Hustl

Create awesome time-lapse videos of your Mac screen ✨

3.8/5
About

Hustl is a Mac app that easily records time-lapse videos of the screen to show off your work or show your work process.

Record your entire screen or just a cropped selection of it. And don't worry about performance issues – Hustl doesn't record a full-length video and then speed it up: instead, it takes screenshots and then stitches them together!

I have been beta testing this app for over a month and I love using it. For makers it is the perfect way to build in public and publicly share your progress. You can start recording with one click, start working, stop recording when you're done and share the recording on Twitter or Youtube. It's especially cool for design/dev work to watch the progression from start to finish

Pros:

easy to use, cool way to show off your work

Cons:

none so far

It took me a few seconds to get how to start the recording the first time but after that I found it really easy to use.

Pros:

I love how Hustl makes it easy to record a time lapse video while coding! I would have been too lazy to do it myself.

Cons:

None.

I have never used this app as I work with a windows. Hovewer, when we've gathered feedback for our new platform we've used a smiliar tool to record how people got along with the interface. On what they clicked and how easy the platform was to use for them.

I do have two questions:

1. Remains the quality of the video if you send it to a non-apple device?

2. Does it also record sound? (As we also recorded the conversation we had with the test-users. This was great as documentation of the feedback.)

Pros:

-Really great to demonstrate something(workflow, user-journey ect.)

-

Cons:

I hope none

Thanks, Valerie! I hope to launch for Windows in the future too! 1. Yes, video quality remains constant across platforms 2. No, Hustl does not record sound: it takes screenshots and then stitch them together to create the time-lapse. Sound would be very distorted in high-speed :)

Hustl is the best timelapse tool for Mac. 100% recommended

Pros:

Easy to use

@rameerez Is this app still being supported? The settings don't update at all, and when updates are released, it just barfs out errors. I got suckered into the buying this, but there's no support page anywhere. This is total vaporware.

@clay_branch1 Hi Clay, sorry for the late reply – I don't usually check Product Hunt comments. Yes, Hustl is very much supported – actually Hustl 2 is coming up in the next few weeks. It's a completely new, rewritten version with a focus on reliability and packed with new features. There will also be a dedicated page for support and frequently asked questions. For reference and for anyone reading this in the future, please reach out to the official support email that's on the website: support[at]gohustl[dot]co for support requests instead of posting comments in this old thread. Not only I don't get notified of PH comments, but I've got people helping me with support emails and we usually reply in <24h.

I purchased this for Ludum Dare 46, and i had it on for the entire 48 hrs after testing for a ten minute duration (I adjusted hustl to take a screenshot every 10 seconds). However, it crashed and did not save my video!! I am very frustrated and disappointed with the app :( I would have used another service If I had known of the fact that this was buggy for long durations.
