Hey Product Hunt! I'm Billy Gallagher, the author of How To Turn Down A Billion Dollars: The Snapchat Story. I previously wrote for TechCrunch (covering Snapchat from 2012-2014) and worked on the investing team at Khosla Ventures. There are a lot of lessons for founders in How To Turn Down A Billion Dollars, from understanding users to iterating quickly to fending off many, many attacks from Facebook. I'd love to answer any questions you have!

@gallagherbilly Hi Billy. Congrats on the book! I just got the audiobook and I'm excited to get started. I always appreciate it when the author takes the time to narrate. My question is, at an incredibly fast growing and high pressure company like snapchat how do the people at the top decide which ideas to execute? How do they make sure they that the best ideas from their employees make it to them? And how did that process develop over time? Was that something Evan and the team were good at from the beginning?

@americas__guest Thank you! Evan very much sits at the center of the company and has his hands on every product decision. It's been that way since the earliest days. As the company has grown in size, this structure has slowed down some product cycles, but keeps Evan's hands on everything the company ships. The company is notoriously secretive, even internally, so ideas from designers and teams close to Evan get to him and leadership very easily, but it's harder for employees on teams that aren't close to Evan to have input on a lot of strategic decisions.
