Hey everyone, this is Dharmesh. Thrilled to show you a project I've been coding away on for several months. It's called GrowthBot and it's a chatbot for growth professionals (marketing, sales, startup folks, etc.). It talks to over a dozen systems and APIs to bring a bunch of cool, useful features. Secret-squirrel handshake: Once you're in the bot, send … See more

@dharmesh Congrats on GrowthBot! Excited to test it out. What was the inspiration?
Dharmesh Shah@dharmesh · Founder and CTO, HubSpot
@briancurliss Even before I started HubSpot, I've been tinkering with text-based interfaces to enterprise software (yeah, I'm a real hoot at parties). But finally, the tech is getting around to where you can implement some NLP and people are used to messaging bots. And, the real reason: I wanted it for myself. So I built it for myself.

@dharmesh have you heard about http://www.growbots.com/ ? You are kind of using their trademark
Dharmesh Shah@dharmesh · Founder and CTO, HubSpot
@kubafilipowski Had not heard about them, but will check them out. Thanks.

@dharmesh works nice!

@dharmesh : Are there any architecture insights that you can share? For instance, how are you handling the data queries in regards to data sources. Put differently, are you using HTTP requests so specific data sources (hubspot data), or could this be any data source.

@dharmesh some additional context for my question please see: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/38.... Disambiguation can be resolved by leveraging massive structured data spaces such as those in the Linked Open Data Cloud. Examples (using ambiguous terms like "China" or phrases like "Paris Hilton" etc) from a blog post: http://kidehen.blogspot.com/2013...
Dharmesh Shah@dharmesh · Founder and CTO, HubSpot
@kidehen Right now, most of the APIs are via HTTP with some intelligent caching where meaningful. Nothing overly fancy yet though, the app is not "mission critical" so have not tried to build out too much sophistication around pulling data. If a particular data source fails, the bot just tells the user there was a problem. They can try again later.

@dharmesh Not a problem using HTTP since my disambiguation examples (as per referenced blog post) is all HTTP based i.e., you can use entity attributes to disambiguate quest. Here's a post on Medium that demonstrates how Actions associated with APIs are described using terms from Schema.org vocabulary. Net effect, a Bot has a description of actions (identif… See more

Love this - very convenient, and super relevant for exactly the kind of stuff I've been focused on. Great work!

@dharmesh love the bot! What system are you using to feed the 'lookup email' information?

@dharmesh This is fun! The joke was true, though. Adding technology won't change dress up an inadequate product or message

@kubafilipowski @dharmesh If I'm not wrong there's a huge difference between "grow" & "growth". Beside both might be in the same niche but for different purpose. Love it by the way. Especially the secret image ;)
Justin Ryan Scott@entrepreter · Head of Growth @usebench
@kubafilipowski @dharmesh Trademarks are for businesses in the same field. There is NO overlap between these ideas... And, the name is different anyway growTHbot. So not sure what the issue you're pointing at is?
Dharmesh Shah@dharmesh · Founder and CTO, HubSpot
@sethlouey Just saw this message (slipped through the cracks for some reason). Thanks for adding GrowthBot to @botlistco.

@dharmesh no worries. :) Glad to have it on @botlistco. https://botlist.co/bots/931-grow...

@dharmesh We are building a bot that addresses the kind of entity disambiguation mentioned in my earlier post. By early next week I should be able to demonstrate entity disambiguation and dynamic knowledge building based on a Bot simply reading documents created using RDF Language sentences/statements. I am happy to provide you with access to this bot as it … See more
