Gravy

The HQ Trivia of products and shopping 🛍️

Gravy is a shopping game show. Every night at 8:30ET, we host a live show where you can compete for cash prizes, grab deals in a dropping price shopping game, and raise money for causes. Each game offers a new product for sale with a dropping price. You can buy anytime, but wait too long and our hidden quantity will sell out.

    Just launched - a few kinks to work out

    New tech product every day that drops in price and you can buy whenever. You can also win money by correctly guessing the final discount percentage. I'm hooked.

I'm confused... Do you have a short marketing video that you can share? The screenshots aren't really helping me much :/

@daviswbaer thanks for the note. We plan to post a short video soon. Just launched. Shows are nightly at 8:30ET, which is obviously the best way to check out what we are doing.

@daviswbaer @markjmcguire I am also lost. So you are not "giving" away a product but letting people bid?

Hey @15greenberg thanks for the question. For each game, we offer up a new product for sale with a dropping price. Anyone in the audience can buy anytime as the price falls, but the longer you wait, the better the deal gets. To make the game competitive and fun, we hide the quantity we have for sale and how many have sold, so if you wait too long the game will sell out and you'll miss out. The goal is to create a "I can't look away" type of live audience experience for a few short minutes each night.

Hello Product Hunters! It’s Mark from Gravy. My co-founders and I have been experimenting with live broadcasting for several months and are excited to bring this mobile, gamified form of shopping and product discovery into the market. We are working hard to deliver a very unique and somewhat addicting experience to audiences with Gravy and would love your feedback. At the outset, let me mention that there have been a number of pretty basic HQ Trivia clones hitting the market. We view Gravy as a far more original and unique way to leverage some of the themes that they’ve so smartly discovered: daily, gamified, live hosted content on your phone. On the business model side, Gravy hits on a theme we’ve innovated on in previous start-ups: transforming interruptive advertising into something more valuable. Gravy provides an entertainment first solution that lets brand marketers earn the attention of an engaged audience in a fun and authentic way rather than annoying them with traditional, interruptive ads. The U.S. advertising market represents around 1% of GDP. Gravy is trying to peel off some small portion of that crazy huge number and use it in ways that provide tangible value to audiences, let brands reward people for their attention, and raise money for worthy causes at the same time. We just launched, so thanks in advance for giving this first version a look—we welcome your feedback and questions.

Interesting to see more "HQ for X" apps pop up recently. Product giveaways make a ton of sense, something we've considered exploring at Product Hunt, but hasn't been a priority.

@rrhoover Thanks Ryan. The shopping game we've developed adds several wrinkles to a standard product giveaway to give our live audiences more excitement and fun, and brands more engagement. For each game, we offer up a new product for sale with a dropping price. Anyone in the audience can buy anytime, but the longer you wait, the better the deal gets. To make the game competitive and fun, we hide the quantity we have for sale and how many have sold, so if you wait too long the game will sell out and you'll miss out. The goal is to create a "I can't look away" type of live audience experience for a few short minutes each night.

@rrhoover @markjmcguire ^You should add this to the description and put it on your website. It makes WAY more sense now :)

@rrhoover @daviswbaer Done! Thanks Davis.
