Hi Product Hunt! I’m David, and I’m on the development and user experience side of Glimpse. These days, I’ve been thinking about all the time that I’ve spent on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat- and how unproductive that time has been for my social life (and my school work, of course). Social media or any other online platform has rarely provided me with valuable meaningful connections or memories that have lead to my growth, or even happiness. I’ve always felt something missing from social media, and the team at Glimpse is trying to bust out of the social media model to fill that gap. The past few years at university, many of my friends have dispersed over the world, whether because of their new jobs, new schools, or even study abroad. It’s exciting that each of us have new lives to build- but it’s also sad that it’s hard to have those spontaneous moments where you bump into a good friend. That’s why I’ve chosen to join the Glimpse team- Glimpse makes it easy to reconnect and to discover at the same time. Whenever you have a couple minutes to spare, just join a room and your friends will be right there. Glimpse brings back the spontaneous moments and connections, and you get to choose with who. Create rooms with your high school friends, your university housing roommates, or your family back at home. Jump in when you’re waiting in line at Starbucks, being lazy in bed, when your team wins the Superbowl 🎉, or when you get that job offer- your friends will be right at your side. As a college student whose school was abruptly shut down due to COVID-19, this app truly hit home for me. The college experience is unique not because of the stellar faculty members or quality of the dining hall food – it's truly about the peers you are surrounded by. With millions of students across the United States being forced—albeit for good reason—to say confined to their homes, I can really see Glimpse being a game changer. Not only can us students continue to remain in contact with our existing friends, but Glimpse enables us to tap into our college community virtually and meet new people through various college "Rooms." It's truly unique for an app to empower me to go beyond my comfort zone and form new bonds with those who I only "see around" but never actually talk to. I'm looking forward to seeing where Glimpse goes from here!

Love this app! I’ve been wanting to meet people for a while but I go to a pretty small school and see the same people over and over again. Using glimpse made me realize that there’s a whole world outside my school’s little bubble.

Love the idea and the product!! I feel a lot of times is hard to catch up with people because we "don't have time" and this makes it easier to do that!

This is such a great concept! I find that I'm always so entrenched in work that I end up not checking in with friends or family for weeks. I can't wait to use this to reconnect with people on a more regular basis.

Omg, this is perfect. This is such a convenient way to be able to talk to people but also have an easy out. I would talk to and catch up with friends so much more if someone could promise me I wouldnt end up on hours-long FaceTimes. I love them but there’s only so much time in the day. I really think this will make maintaining my personal relationships so much more manageable. THANK YOU.

I’ve been so busy with school this week, and my school is already known for its lack of community. It's especially difficult during midterms and finals. I glimpsed the other day for the first time, and it honestly was really rewarding. I'm thinking of making it a daily routine with my group of friends since I only have so many hours in a day and school certainly keeps me busy.

Awesome product. As one of the first few users, I was really excited when I heard about it. Talking with people on Glimpse is a really intriguing experience - it's super quick, super easy to meet people, and if you're not clicking, you only have like a minute anyways. Would definitely recommend!
