I've used Evernote for the last 9 years. It's the one tool I can honestly say my life would be worse off without. Or at least would be the hardest to adjust to if I replaced with Bear or another alternative out there. Evernote is an extension of my forgetful brain. It seems to be in-vogue to hate on them the last couple years, but it's just as solid a product as it's ever been for me. So if it ain't broke...

Pros:

-Add notes from everywhere: webclipper, ios, android, email, etc. Unlimited formatting options. Reminders option for notes.

Cons:

Search - Even on Premium this is ok, but always room for speed / consistency improvements. Lack of major new features

They stopped innovating and now their competition does what they do better.

Pros:

Nothing much these days that can be done better by other apps with better pricing.

Cons:

No markdown language support and their pricing model is abysmal.

Computer Tech

Loved the product so much that I became a pro customer almost immediately. It keeps my notes synched between phone, tablet, laptop and desktop so that I look like a magician pulling rabbits out of my hat for customers. I depend upon it and use it many times per day. Sure, some of their competitors have more bells and whistles, but it would take a lot of convincing to move me to another product.

Pros:

Quick, simple, uncluttered. Even searches for text within images.

Cons:

I can think of no obvious ways to improve the app. Cheaper would be nice, of course!

VP Product, Applitools

Been using Evernote since '08. Still happy with it overall.

Pros:

Why does PH limit us to 140 characters? Not even Twitter does that... Multi-platform, OCR, wide range of datatypes supported.

Cons:

Make it faster across the board.

I just looked up my oldest note, which is from August 1, 2006! I use Evernote for all of my notes with the exception of shared family shopping lists. It is literally my brain. I can look up briefing notes from a company I interviewed a year ago on the fly and ask for an update on an initiative they mentioned. My travel ticklers, recipes, saved shopping items -- everything goes into Evernote. I happily pay for the upgrade!

Pros:

Super simple sync across every device/platform while also being full featured enough to grow with you.

Cons:

Search within note on the mobile app is a bit cumbersome.

I started using Evernote since 2014 and I love the fact that I can use it on my phone and laptop. I have all my notes there though I don't see any benefit to pay for the premium account except for the sync feature on multiple devices.

Pros:

Quick, simple and independent.

Cons:

On the mobile version is difficult to find notebooks and take picture in a note.

I have been using Evernote since 2012 and it's true, the app is amazing. However, after all this time, the app continues to be almost the same. There are no innovation, no important updates to be excited about. The worst happen for Windows users (like myself). I have Windows 10 at the office, a Macbook at home, and an Android as my phone... so imagine the mess. The macOS version looks astonishing while the Windows one looks like crap. The Android version is halfway there. I have been paying for a few years so far but now I'm having serious doubts. I really hope the EN team takes it to the next level... I know about a lot of people who isn't staying with them if changes don't take place. I'm one of them. Already tried OneNote and Notion but they cannot keep up with Evernote... sadly.

Pros:

It's the ultimate note-taking app.

Cons:

They treat the Windows version like crap, they stopped innovating long ago.

I downloaded it years ago but really got into using it daily within the past year. What took me so long?

Pros:

ailing updates.

Cons:

I want to be able to edit creation dates of notes.

aaa

POS, corporate culture sucks, fucking hate this company

Pros:

Was the first in the space

Cons:

Instead of innovating, they fell into the screw your customer mode. FUCK THEM

great application for storing and organizing various types of notes, documents, records- used for many years and have not found alternative that does as much for the price.

Pros:

Cons:

more comprehensive search options, saved searches

Still my go-to product for saving things that aren't browser bookmarks (articles, recipes, etc.) The browser extension makes it super easy! The latest mobile app is very nice too. Loving the dark mode. The latest Beta editor is a nice surprise too! I love that I can save notebooks with my wife too, makes saving/sharing knowledge much easier for being good parents. 🙃
Words & Deeds
After using it for most of the past decade, I still use Evernote many times a day, every day. I love the browser button, the smart photo/OCR capabilities, the ubiquitous availability, and other basics for my needs. It still has a couple of quirks I'd love to see ironed out (no searching on your tag list in mobile is really annoying), but it provides so much for a modest annual cost, and is wired into my workflows and information gathering. I strongly recommend it.
Executive Coach for tech leaders
I was a loyal Evernote user since 2014 but the features just didn't keep up. In the end I was mostly using it for writing and I didn't didn't need to pay for just that. Wanting an app that did more and made collaboration easier, I recently moved everything over to Notion. The export was super easy. Notion allows me to have a place to house my writing, my writing ideas and also share shopping lists with my husband, travel plan, make to do lists, create databases for my work and so much more. I'm so much happier.
