@lizasperling you can use Rover.com, DogVacay and Wag - all are in SF. I know the team at Rover and know people who have used them. I am trying Wag for the first time this weekend. Tons of options, an increasing helpful and crowded space. :-)

I use DogBuddy every time we go on vacation or are going to be away overnight. It's so simple to use and there are lots of great sitters in our area. I love the user generated reviews for each potential sitter, this social proof makes you feel less nervous about someones credentials. That said we have also been the first to review a sitter and they were also great. I feel confident leaving Dele with my preferred dog buddies who have all been excellent. This service really has been a lifesaver for us. It's a great alternative to kennels and I can't recommend highly enough.

Pros:

Very easy to use. Lots of great sitters in our area. Lot of user generated reviews. Premium insurance in place.

Cons:

Would be great if sitters more regularly updated their availability calendar.
