I was mildly aware of HIPPA (patient confidentiality) enough to know information can't just live anywhere. But the fact that it causes unnecessary deaths and further damage to patients b/c results don't make their way to the next doctor fast enough is crazy (especially during a time where data has the ability to travel in real-time). Tools for better communication between care settings and providers in a must to improve patient care and outcomes but adoption is a huge challenge. The space is fragmented. A better approach may be a compliant protocol that could work with HL7 which is internationally used to send all sorts of data, so this communication channel could be more widely spread. … See more
