No one: Absolutely no one: Not a single person on earth: Facebook: Let's make messages tab a separate 1.2gb app and make everyone install it and jump between apps awkwardly when they press a button

I can see a huge potential in this. Messaging is getting bigger and bigger these days. And a lot of people follow people they don't know on Instagram and now it's easier to have private conversations with them. Email is not a huge thing for young people today but they spend a lot of time on social media, and this is a great way to make closer connections. I hope that this experiment will be featured in the Instagram app in the future so I don't have to have another app. Looking forward to trying it.

Instagram tries to become Snapchat, but compared to Snapchat Instagram sucks.

I tried to use it but when I change the account via instagram app and turn back to direct app it didn't go on with active account's direct messages. It is automatically showed me other account's DM. And you can not change it using direct.

It seems like they are looking to 1) have another place to run ads 2) keep attacking SnapChat.

I don't see any reason for this product to be created and I'm afraid that they will deprecate an in-app messages, so I will be forced to use the new app.
