This is another example of a "Teleportation App" with similarities to Visor. Perfect use case: sometimes Philz is packed, without a seat mid-day. I'd like to be able to know how busy it is before traveling toward disappointment.

@rrhoover No need to request anything from anyone with Density... no pics, no videos... An accurate count of density in real time. Hoping @andrewfarah jumps in to discuss.

@rrhoover Crowdsourcing the data was an option but it leaves out a trove of data. So we built a permanent sensor instead that gets affixed to a doorframe. It's anonymous but accurate, scooping up 10s of millions of data points every day. We analyze that and turn it into a running, real time count of places just like Philz.

@andrewfarah yes! I gathered that from the landing page. Much better solution for the use case I described. :)

@rrhoover mind if I co-opt "travel toward disappointment?" I'll give you author's cred if we ever use it in a super bowl ad :)

@andrewfarah haha, go for it!

@rrhoover @andrewfarah How do you incentivize retail outlets to adopt it though? Seems like this would turn potential customers away right? What's in it for them?
Andrew Farah@andrewfarah · CEO, Density
@mbesto Kind of addressed this below in response to @lindzora's question. But the gist of it is a couple things - loyal customers are loyal regardless. We just tell them the best time to show up. If a place has high traffic, we'll eventually do a "tap to notify" feature that simply waits until the next quiet moment and sends you a notification. Merchants … See more

@rrhoover This use case is something I think about a lot. @andrewfarah and the folks at Density are doing great work and it's a natural partnership for us. I'm excited that we'll be rolling this data out for select venues listed on https://workfrom.co in Portland soon.

@rrhoover @andrewfarah agree. Am going to drop "travel toward disappointment" into random convos.
Andrew Farah@andrewfarah · CEO, Density
@rrhoover @anamitra all like.. "Are you TTD?" "Yeah, I'm headed there. Today was rough."

@andrewfarah interesting idea. My company uses beacons at live events to measure the density and dwell time of attendees at certain activations. Curious to hear if you all are able to measure a "wait time"? Also how have people responded to the lack of capturing unique identifiers? Great concept! We may buy a few to test at festivals 😄
