Thanks Simon, you're absolutely right. One of those comments which seems absolutely obvious but we missed it before :) Will do that tomorrow!

My friends and I are always quoting iconic lines from our favorite movies. We remember all these random details, and sharing them can bring back a film’s emotional moments in an engaging way. That was our inspiration for Cut!—to let players who love movies compete in trivia matches with friends and other fans all over the world. We couldn’t find any quiz game like this in any mobile store, so we made our own :)

@petrfodor There is a loose equivalent in MoviePop, though it's just about identification. This (so far, just did one match) seems to be about internal trivia as well. Seems structurally similar to other trivia apps, which isn't really a bad thing. Does mean it doesn't aggressively stand out, but for this space, it's pretty hard to anyway. Trivia's trivia. :) Found the onboarding slightly odd, if only because (on iOS) the interface elements felt non-standard. Date picker took up the whole screen, password didn't show last entered character. Doesn't even feel like that's how it'd behave if it were a Cordova app, but maybe it was? Either way, I'm aware of what Cordova is, so I may be more observant on the subject than most users. Other suggestion: don't fade in the answers, show them all at once. The timer starts ticking before the last answer appears, so it biases scores towards the first answer. A minor detail, but these things matter in trivia. Overall, though, it's keeping a spot in my Quizzing folder. Don't know how often I'll go to it, but movies are my weakest round, so I should go back to it a lot. (Also: I have no friends who actually practice their quizzing, so I always play these apps with randoms. Whoever can make the randoms most balanced, or be bots that appear most human, or just drops the pretense and lets me play by myself, wins the prizes.)

@hupfen Hey Zoe, thanks a lot for your point of view. We follow the steps of QuizUp in game mechanics and MoviePop in the general theme. But what makes Cut! different is that you never know what question will follow after the clip. Each video has many different questions which makes the gameplay surprising. The game is created in Unity 3D so we can have one code for iOS, Android and even Windows Phone. That's why date picker isn't looking native. Interesting point with answers fade-in. Actually we made this animation in the very last version to lead players eyes from the question to answer buttons. It's definitely a good point, we just to have to decide what's more important > if the visual flow or "neutrality". Balancing of opponents selection is one of the tasks for the upcoming version, it's extremely important from what I know from QuizUp.

@petrfodor Yea, I get the distinction, just felt obligated to mention it. Nice pick with Unity! I might try making a trivia app (on other subject matter, of course!) with Ionic just to see how more frameworks approach the patterns. The animation thing is actually a really interesting problem of UX vs. gameplay, not one you see too often. I don't have the answers there.

Looks a fun game to share with friends. Feel there's currently too much reliance on the explainer video to communicate your value prop. With your homepage layout - if a visitor doesn't watch the video (and many won't) - you're asking them to commit to clicking an app purchase button - before giving them a compelling reason to do so. Suggest flipping the order so your current message is above the app purchase buttons and then look at aligning the message closer with the one conveyed in the video i.e. "Like movies? Prove it. Compete against your friends." Hope this helps :).

One big issue for me is after a head to head match, my only option is to rematch. I can't opt out of that and go back to the main menu?

@bradenhamm Hi Braden, you're correct, there's only a rematch option. I'm aware this could be controversial but it keeps players in the loop. We're now carefully observing if it works or people are upset about this.

@petrfodor For me, it is frustrating because I want to cycle through the people I'm playing. For example, if I'm currently playing 3 people, I want to cycle through them. I also found myself wanting to check my rank after each match. In order to do that, I force quit the app and reopened it.

@petrfodor Love the idea of the game. Fairly well executed. playing the quiz challenges is fun. But, there are some dead ends in the app (what if I don't want to play another challenge against the previous challenger, I'm stuck on that screen with no place to go. Also, the share feature wasn't working for me.
