We can learn a lot from successful entrepreneurs, but arguably we can learn even more from those that fail. Collapsed can be a great resource for anyone working at a startup to study things that lead previous companies to struggle and perhaps change their own journey.

@mubashariqbal I'm a huge fan of "startup graveyard" projects for the same reason. It's so important to celebrate failure, understanding and growth as a tool for improving our future.

@katesegrin I remember when F*ckedCompany (by @pud) first launched, loved to read the amazing tales of crazy things startups used to do, that lead a lot to fail!

@mubashariqbal one of my favorites is when they have insane burn rates-- you can see it coming a mile away, but you know they're having a blast on the way out 😂🙈

@katesegrin @mubashariqbal Thanks for the hunt, after the core product is implemented, I'm thinking of creating a Q&A service where users can ask for advice regarding their current startup. Similar to #adviceforstartup on SSG. I really love the way Quora have their startup advice section and would like to create something like that on Collapsed. What are your thoughts?

@aaronkazah @katesegrin @mubashariqbal Sounds great! def need more people to draw attention to the strong survivorship bias

@philipkuklis Could you touch a bit more on "strong survivorship bias" I'd like to know what you mean by that.

@philipkuklis @aaronkazah @katesegrin Very true! History is written by the victors after all!

@aaronkazah Sure, survivorship bias essentially means that we tend to focus more on people/startups with success stories than those who didn't "survive" the process; thus we miss out on lots of opportunities to learn more. That's why your project + the Q&A idea sounds like a welcome change! 👍

@philipkuklis I see what you mean. I'm just hoping I manage to execute things well enough to achieve the vision I have the for the product. Thanks for feedback, I appreciate it!

@philipkuklis @aaronkazah it also means we're susceptible to confusing any event, decision or strategy of a successful company as a the reason they were successful. "It worked for them!"
