Very nice, but very expensive. Too bad you don't have a suitable plan for bootstrapped startups.

@mckean Used v1, it's brilliant but just impossible to afford for those of us without big financial backing. I'd really like to see a more affordable plan.

@mckean Have you seen pendo.io? This is peanuts in comparison.

@mikeschroll Agreed. Appcues provided the best value per dollar when I looked at competitors.
Edit: I should add, value is subjective and it comes down to what's most important.

@mikeschroll just had a quick look... Seems nice, but when the price tag is "request a demo" I doubt it will be more affordable.

@mckean Correct. I think pendo's buy-in starts at $8k/yr minimum. (Disclaimer: I have buddies who work for Appcues & Pendo)

@mikeschroll so yeah, it's off topic and not relevant to my concern about the price of Appcues. 🤔 In that spirit, "I like turtles".

@mckean the starter plan includes Appcue's branding. So, basically you're paying to advertise them 😕 despite that, it's very well done and looks great.

@mikeschroll @mckean That's right Appcues is much more cost effective than Pendo

@mckean @duncan_lewis I totally hear ya. Much of our early traction wouldn't have been possible without generous free plans from companies like Firebase, Keen and Divshot. We'll likely follow the cool folks at FullStory and Wistia and offer a completely free version in the future, but we have a few things to work out before then.
Definitely keep watching this space. The product is getting simpler all the time and the ROI is definitely there. It's huge leverage for big companies and could mean even more for startups.

@mckean AppCues was pretty comparable to other solutions in price. There are some free frameworks, but they require a developer, which is exactly what AppCues avoids.

@hijonathan @mckean Appreciate your response!
By the way, I wasn't for a minute suggesting it isn't worth the pricing; it is worth every penny and I cannot recommend it enough. The support is also first rate, we got a ton of help with our setup which went a step further than just basic integration.
Looking forward to seeing what you do next, all things being well we will soon be able to afford one of the plans.

@mckean We looked at everything - and I mean everything - in this space before choosing Appcues. It's not cheap, but far from the most expensive. More importantly: 1) it had the best price/performance of anything we looked at; 2) It was clear that the team had a strong vision for onboarding and the product would evolve rapidly along those lines. 2.0 definitely validates this bet for us.

@mckean I was thinking the same. I am currently using intro.js to provide some basic onboarding but need something more powerful. Looking at the market, appcues is expensive but still at the lower end unfortunately and seems like a great product. I have asked a question over in the questions section to see if I can get more recommendations but will likely go with appcues.
