I like this. A lot. We are seeing lots of bots as 'add-ons' to current messaging platforms, facebook, slack, kik etc - but Amity has 'add-ons' baked into the messaging app from day 1 (today!). There are some useful AND playful things you can do inside the messenger. Reminds me of the iOS 10 iMessage Demo. But with any product competing in the messaging … See more

@bentossell the product looks awesome but I just see it being very very hard to become a new entrant into the messaging space without a clear value add for a specific demographic to use. Messaging network effects are hard because you need to somehow have your unique advantage be accessible without other users for a new user to invite their friends and then t… See more

@danielsing3r yeah I totally agree - thats why I asked the questions I did :) Very tough space

@bentossell Thanks Ben! You captured the essence of what we're building here at Amity. We believed it was important to come out on day one with a communication experience that's complete and actually exciting to use (rather than just pure utility). We're very excited for everyone to try out Amity's live features, interactive messages, and fun one-touch act… See more

@johnnychengx nice. How do you plan on getting people to use this vs the other solutions out there? As Chris put it below, people may need the 10x experience to get them to change whereas this is more like 1.2x - although it is nice and feels good to use, whats the big draw to get people using it?

@bentossell Our focus is really on creating an overall experience people can only get in Amity. We've also introduced a level of discoverability where users can find out new features, get surprised, and show their friends. What we've built for version 1.0 is also just the starting point. We have a lot more exciting things coming, and they will come out often… See more

@johnnychengx yeah I get that but what specifically is the 'overall experience' that you can 'only get in Amity' compared to what people can already get? This is such a competitive space and people aren't likely to drop their current messaging platforms very easily. Also I downloaded Amity, if none of my friends download it then there is no point me using… See more

@bentossell Great points. A few questions we focus on with the experience that other messaging apps don't seem to include: 1) How can we enable people to start and continue conversations easier? We've created a range of 'lightweight frictionless input' (as @aplusk would call it) that's lighter than sending text messages. Amity has a set of one-touch action… See more

@bentossell I really did this as well. Gonna dig in and explore...but it looks like it has a lot of everything I want executed well. Live, photo, audio....request photo is a nice touch. P.S. I'm Adam on Amity 😎

@johnnychengx @bentossell @aplusk So you plan to get users by having a good product is that correct?
Hunter Gray@huntergray · Founder, Klutch
@johnnychengx @bentossell @aplusk I think that when you're trying to explain a 10x improvement using words like "easier, better, faster" - you've already lost in the marketing sphere. This is such an amazing product but it's really just a list of features that Messenger and iOS11 will likely have soon. Great job with the product but unless you've got @asplus… See more

@bentossell Agreed. I can tell some legit work went into this app....but unless their UA budget is 7 digits, the new iOS 10 release will make it very hard to gain any traction.

@johnnychengx excellent second point. Build upon it and it may become the differentiator you need to find your audience.
