On the same day that Pandora launches their ad-free Plus tier, Amazon launches Music Unlimited. One of the more interesting things that Amazon is doing here is offering a discount to Echo owners — tying the price of their subscription service to owning a specific device (not a Fire phone, significantly). Will Google match this offer for Google Home buyers? Let the battle for the Connected Home begin the same way it did for mobile phones! By using music as the universal vehicle for driving customer loyalty!

@chrismessina Hold the phone! Don't Prime subscribers already get access to Amazon's music streaming service?

@bostonrob89 @chrismessina yeah we do, but don't think it has quite the same features. I could be wrong, never used it.

Wow. I still won't switch from Google Music. I love YouTube Red too much and the YT Music app. Plus with Songza's radio curation (concierge), that was the frosting on the cake for me. But glad to see some more competition.

Late to the game... And I thought that as a Prime member I wouldn't have to pay the same rate as my Apple Music subscription, but doesn't seem to be the case. Unfortunate.
