Love this but would there be a way to include top performing grads from all schools vs top schools? I fear diversity pool would be limited otherwise

@daniellenewnham the "top tier school" part always makes me cringe... I understand the prestige with these grads, no doubt. But still...

@as_austin @daniellenewnham We are taking applicants from all schools, but we wanted to limit to a few schools when we launched. This is something that we are actively trying to figure out. I agree that top school is not necessarily the best indicator of a engineer's aptitude. Interviews and code samples also have bias, but they can be better indicators. … See more

@as_austin @daniellenewnham On this front, we launched quizzes on AngelList last year: https://angel.co/quizzes. We have more stuff in the pipeline

@allthingsmarco @as_austin @daniellenewnham Completely agree. That is why we want to solve this so badly.

I'd be more interested to know what the candidate is interested in pursuing rather than having recruiters go after the "top performing". That will really make things easier instead of taking shortcuts. Even standardized filters can't really weed ou… See more

@davidsfeng Yep. Super important. For A-List, we grab a lot of unstructured and structured data around candidate preferences. We use this data to create better matches and to allow recruiters to make better judgement calls on who to reach out to. Right now we track candidate interests in markets, team size, programming languages, and company stage. We are c… See more

@amitm Indeed, "There are tons of very good engineers without name brands on their resumes"
