This book actually has three bands. The first two bands are bundled into one book, while the third band which was published later on is a book on its own.
I read through Book 1 and 2 in one week, Murakami's works are known to be strange, in the very sense of the word. 1Q84 is an amazing ride through Tokyo how it could have been. There are so many strange unexplainable thing happening in the book.
There are links to George Orwell's 1984 but unlike Orwell who looks at 1984 as the future that could be, Murakami looks back at 1984 of how it could have been. (I hope that makes sense).
