Hey, Marc here 👋
I was kicked out of the Spanish class back in junior because I was building paper planes...
To my point, the topics were so boring 🥱
I discovered recently that GPT-4 is really good at creating grammar exercises.
So I built WorkbookPDF: Learn any language with your favorite topics 😍
For instance, you can learn French with Cheese & Wine related exercises 🧀🍷
Use the coupon code LAUNCH for 30% off. It expires when the launch is over.
Would love to hear your feedback!
Marc
Congratulations on the launch Marc!
This topic is actually close to me as I've been trying to learn Japanese for a while :) I'm a fan of j-pop so I want to learn from the lyrics of my favorite songs. And with GPT-4, I found it's really good to learn grammar with!
One piece of feedback: there's no free trial on your app, so for a new user, there's no way to evaluate what you're offering without paying. You may be getting a greater influx of users if you offer at least a couple of sheets for free for new people before subscribing them.
@anatoliik Thanks a lot Toli, appreciate the feedback. Should I add a "default" PDF to every new account?
So you can learn Japanese with the free workbook with standard topics like Food, and only pay if you want it customized (J-pop)?
@marclou I'd say the free offering should ideally allow a potential customer to sample your service. You aren't really providing the service of just any workbook, right? You're providing the service of a workbook customized to the specific interests of the person. So the generic workbook wouldn't allow me to feel what it is like to get a workbook according to my topic.
Consider doing 5 or 10 free workbooks, even more, before starting to charge for this. Language learning is not a one-time purchase: it takes months and years. And one workbook, it can be completed by the learner in one evening. Maybe one week if you re-do it a couple of times. If people like your service, they'll return for more.
@marclou an ideal situation for me would be: I give your app a link to a Japanese song I listen to, it discovers its lyrics, and gives me a workbook based on those particular lyrics.
I'm actually working currently on a similar solution that, in the final version, will work against individual songs, but with the focus on providing a grammatical breakdown of sentences to help people learn grammar rather than workbooks: https://wordplay-rho.vercel.app/
@anatoliik I second this @marclou . Even before I have seen what the product is like am asked to bring my card out. Hard for me to visualize. Given that this is definitely in the personal productivity space, it's gonna be hard to get people to buy without trying.
@anatoliik sick app Toli!
I think you're onto something, I can see BTS army going crazy with it!
Thanks for the detailed feedback & Good luck with everything :)
Hey @marclou !
Yeah! Language learning services should really strive to make sure that the words you learn are from real life.
So I have one idea for your project:
Invite users to upload their conversations from chat rooms in their own language. Translate that dialog with AI and give people words and phrases they actually use every day.
Good luck!
Love this idea!!!
I am also working on tools to help with languages that are make learning fun with my app so this is a mission close to my heart!
You definitely got my upvote!
Congratulations on the launch! Personalized language workbooks based on popular topics like Kpop, cheese & wine, and salsa make learning enjoyable and engaging.
