Hello hunters, 👋 Nishith here. I’m the maker of Thursday, a place where remote teams do their socials. We have taken all the friction out from organizing socials. Start your social with just 1-click. 🔥 No signup. 🔥 Nothing to install. 🔥 Free to use. 🔥 It is wonderful to see that what had started as a side project at Folly Systems 3 months ago for our own team’s chill time has now turned into an actual product with hundreds of users doing socials, hanging out with their teams, playing games, and having a blast. Please try it out with your team. I'll be looking forward to your feedback. Btw, something that we have always been curious about other product launches on PH is what kind of traffic they would be getting on their launch day. So we built this public PH launch tracker to share our launch data with you: https://thursday.social/ph-launc... #buildinpublic 👀 It shows our data in near real-time, like # of unique visitors, where they are coming from, how many socials they are creating, etc. I hope you find it interesting. P.S. I’ll be here all day and will be happy to answer any questions.

Hello Product Hunters! 👋 Deepa here! I am the founder and maker of Thursday. We are very excited to share our journey and our product with you. Earlier this summer, we talked to various remote teams about their WFH experiences, and this is what we learned: - Remote is great, but people don’t feel connected. All conversations have become transactional. No watercooler chats, no chitchat over lunch, no happy hours. - Zoom fatigue is real. - It is a huge burden on a select few in the team to organize the social events. These were a few insights that led us to Thursday. So happy to share with you today what we built over the last 3 months. Give Thursday a spin. Get together with your team, and let us know what you think.

Hello Product Hunt, I’m the designer and maker of Thursday, with the future of work going remote, everyone was busy building tools to make ‘work’ better. But what about everything else? What about 💬 casual chats, ☕️ coffee breaks and 🏓 game sessions with the team? These were some of the problems we took and tried breaking out of the zooom grid. Creating a virtual space for teams, which is representative of how you would actually interact in real world, by moving around the space, forming smaller groups to talk and socialise. At the same time keeping the benefits of a digital interface, speed and simplicity. I hope you have as much fun using Thursday as we had building it. 💜

So cool to see how it turned from a “hobby” to a real deal 💪
Deepa from True Sparrow
@forst Thanks Jan! Please try it out and let us know how it goes.
Nishith from True Sparrow
@forst Thanks Jan! It has been fun building and using it ourselves. :) Please try it with your team. Looking forward to your feedback.
Keren Brickman
I absolutely love this idea!! Organizing events and games for Tolstoy takes hours, so this is going to be great for us :) Will you guys be releasing premium features?
Nishith from True Sparrow
@keren_brickman Thanks Keren. Would love to know which mixers did your team enjoy the most. We started this as a side project, but yes, depending upon the traction that we get, we would plan to add premium features - like custom games.
Keren Brickman
@nishith_shah We'll try one at our weekly today and will letcha know:)
Samantha Becker
@keren_brickman @nishith_shah we played the doodling game!! So much fun, really cool work guys:)
Chris Harris
is it free
Nishith from True Sparrow
@chrishca Yes, absolutely. We are Folly, a product studio, and we built Thursday, which started as a side-project, for our own team's chill time. So go ahead, have fun and let us know how we can make the experience better.
Bala Panneerselvam
This is really cool. We'll use it in Zorp. Couple of questions. - How do you plan to monetise it? - Do you have a slack integration? Would be easier to access.
Nishith from True Sparrow
@ibala That's awesome Bala. Would love to hear your feedback. We built Thursday as a side project for our own chill time. But yes, depending on how much traction we get, we can plan to add custom mixers etc which could help us monetize. Slack integration could be smart. What exactly were you thinking?
Bala Panneerselvam
@nishith_shah I can one-click start a mixer from slack instead of finding your website. Makes it easily accessible.
Nishith from True Sparrow
@ibala Totally! That's a super neat idea.
Toma Rareş

Sergey Bunas
I really like the idea and implementation! Especially smoothness of the whole application with collaboration. Could you please share what tech stack did you use to implement these collaborative features? (mouse movements for all users, drawing sync and etc)
Harvindersingh Chavan
Thanks for your feedback @serjobas We're using websockets for live cursors and real time data sharing throughout the application. As for tech stack, we have React + Redux on frontend and Golang on backend. I'll be happy to answer any other question you may have.
Aditya Raj Singh
Thanks, @serjobas , Glad you liked it. So, on Frontend, we have used React and other important libraries like AWS Chime for Audio-Video Capability, web-sockets for real-time messaging(mouse-movements), React-P5 for Canvas in Doodle Race, and Go in the backend. To handle WebSocket connections across multiple servers for the same social we decided to use RabbitMq as a message broker. We extensively leveraged using and goroutines and channels for handling messaging and processing of individual socials separately. I hope I did answer your question, and do let me know if you have any more
Sergey Bunas
@adityarajsingh Thanks for the detailed answer! Why did you pick up Go for the backend? Do you think the same collaborative cursor behavior (like in Figma, Mirro) could be implemented in Node.js, and what are the downsides?
Aditya Raj Singh
@serjobas So answering your question, We can build the collaborative cursor behavior on Node as well using web-sockets. We chose Go for backend because it's more memory-efficient while NodeJs uses more runtime memory and CPU and it also has single-threaded event loop.

The landing page looks so much fun @nishith_shah. Kudos to your team! 🔥 The process of setting up the meeting was so seamless. Also cool of you guys to have enabled the PH tracker and made your stats public.

i’ve tried thursday, and it’s great — thoughtfully designed, easy to use and fuuun. it doesn’t hurt that it’s super free - what a wild concept!

@snehasanks Thanks Sneha. Do plan a social with your team. Would love to hear your feedback :)
Rucha Joshi
@snehasanks Thanks Sneha for being our earliest of adopters and giving us great feedback 🙌

Hello Product hunt, I am a maker and developer at Thursday.social. I built the Trivia game amongst other things. Try it out and let me know what you think. Btw, did you know Chrome released a new version (95) last week? Well, I didn’t know that up until I realised that audio stopped working on Thursday. After spending an entire night debugging this, I figured out that Chrome 95 prohibits cross-origin workers from sending compiled WebAssembly modules - and we need that for background noise cancellation. Well, long story short, I fixed it over the weekend. And now, keeping fingers crossed for a smooth launch. 🙂 Let me know if you have any tech questions.
Margarita Shvetsova
Hi Thursday team, congratulations on the launch! What a fun product! =D I love it that no setup is needed, just open the link and have fun! Right in time for a remote-work Halloween party ;) ?makers 💪

?makers this is just superb. Love the product, especially that tooltip! Had my first hangout and it was so much fun. Now, I don't know any other better team hangout platform. Btw, I converted right at the 'no sign, no install' stage.
Nishith from True Sparrow
@adityavsc Wow! You made our day (well, night actually). I'm glad you noticed and enjoyed these small 'delights'. Take a bow @janhavi_patel & @almost_designer!
Harshit Beniwal
@adityavsc Thank you! We call this the 'Social Panel', helping you as a host understand the spaces inside Thursday and choose what mixer to play next with the team! 😄
Janhavi Patel
@adityavsc Thank you so much! The pointers are my favourite as well, and we have more in store 😉 And as Nishith said, this made our day 🥳
