theGist provides personalized summaries of Slack channels and threads using generative AI. Stop sifting through endless conversations, simply get what you need to know so you can focus on your work.
Thanks for hunting us, @benln ! 🙌
We are so excited to launch theGist's first product—theGist for Slack!
Our mission is to help businesses and team members become more efficient by reducing workplace noise and work about work without compromising on communications.
So let's start with a tool that offers personalized summaries of those millions of messages on Slack, right?!? ✂️✂️✂️
💡 Here's how we came up with theGist:
Itzik, our CEO, has been dealing with ADHD all his life. He and I worked together for years, and in that time the number of SaaS tools in the company increased 🙀. Naturally, information overload became a big issue 😵💫. For the sake of some order, I would summarize the most important events from multiple tools and share them with Itzik in a consistent format we both could easily digest 🥺.
🎯 Later, as generative AI crossed a significant milestone, we decided it was time to automate this and share it with the world.
Here are a few use cases where theGist can help:
1. In meetings all day and getting bombarded on Slack? Just gist it!
Type ‘/gist’ in any channel to get a summary.
2. Trying to keep up with too many channels?
Add them to your daily digest and get a summary of all of them every morning or afternoon.
3. Got tagged in an endless thread conversation?
Use a shortcut on a message, or mention @theGist in any thread
🎺🎺 And, of course, the team and I are here, available, and happy to take in the PH community feedback and answer any questions you have for us! 🤓🤓
Oooo... this is cool. It's so easy to fall behind on Slack channels and conversations. Reading back afterwards having not been involved in the conversation is always a pain. Neat idea and congrats on the launch guys!
@shaul_olmert1 the best support is for English. We've trained our models on a variety of sources which were mostly focused on the English language. We're planning to release better support for more languages soon (including hebrew 😎)
This would be a great tool to use both internally, and other slack channels to get an idea of what is being discussed there! Will definitely check this out
Hey @tomericco, NO. When you do /gist in a channel, we display an ephemeral message with the summary which only you can see. You can control if you want to share the summary with others or not.
