This is a cool evolution of meme-making platforms. But what I really want is a meme-monetization platform. Memes are similar to jokes (indeed a joke is a sort of meme) in that their origin is often unknown and their creators have no upside in their success. Memes like genes (the origin of the word is from Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene published in 1976)spread because they are adaptive, i.e. they confer a benefit in a certain environment. The benefit of a gene is usually the survival or replication probability of the organism possessing it. With memes it's a bit different-- meme's spread because they confer a benefit on the recipient (often a chuckle or head-nod, a sense of being understood and less alone in the world). But they spread because they signal that same belonging or understanding. In the video example above it's product managers and those who understand the challenges of building/growing digital products who will derive a benefit from the disgruntled fan meme via a chuckle and who will spread it to signal that understanding and inspire chuckles in their confreres. If supermeme could add a way for meme masters to derive an upside from the spread of their memes, we'd all benefit because we'd get smarter people creating funnier and more viral memes. In the end every digtal product, mvp, startup, founder vision is a meme. They should all have a coin associated with them and they should all confer a benefit on early adopters/spreaders for sharing the chuckle/insight/wisdom with the larger world. Every meme is an MLM with no upside even for the creator at the top of the pyramid. Fix the meme monetization problem and we probably fix the world. Congrats on the launch!
