As a long-time Sunrise user, I loyally upvote. There's a lot of love in this thread right now (which is great) but I have to play devil's advocate for a moment...
If I didn't have Sunrise, I would probably get over it after a week and replace it with UpTo, Fantastical, or one of the many other solutions. While I prefer Sunrise's UX/design, it's not enough to keep me forever. What does Sunrise look like in 1-2 years and how is it going to become a 10x better solution than what's out there today, @jeremylv?
Thanks @rrhoover!
We have a set of tools lined-up, which are going to make it easier for you and your family/friends/colleagues to work, schedule and manage time together. Alongside of this we want to become a calendar platform. As long as something is tied to a date, Sunrise will able to display that information with context.
We decided to focus on the client-side experience as a first step, making sure Sunrise is available to everyone. The next step will be about the connections among users and we can't wait to show you what's coming up next!
@jeremylv you should talk to @andrewchen about this. Last time we had coffee we were discussing "connected productivity" tools and how no one has quite gotten that right yet.
What other contextual information do you have in mind? I've been using it for about a week now, and so far I've seen things like weather forecasts and reminders. I'm sure there are lots more I just haven't seen yet.
@alexschiff Have you seen our apps integrations within Sunrise? Let us know what you think.

@jeremylv I added the Foursquare one out of curiosity, but none of the other ones are tools I use (or in the case of Github, features I use), so they didn't seem that valuable.
I'll compile some feedback and send it your way after some more time using it. I like the design and extra features, but I do miss the natural language text input from Fantastical.
Finally! I've been using the web version. As most people mentioned, Sunrise is the go-to calendar app for all devices now. It would be fantastic if they can build a icon on the top of the Mac with similar functionality to Fantastical (quick peek at events of the day, quick add, keyboard shortcut etc.)
@jeremylv Great to hear about Menu Bar icon coming. I'd love for it to have a couple options of what's displayed in the menu bar before it's clicked:
Option 1: time until next appointment (min/hours)
Option 2: time until next appointment badge with the actual next appointment meeting title displayed in-line in menu bar
It would also be cool if the badge color that contained the time until next appointment could change based on how far out your next meeting is...to give a visual cue of the proximity of the next meeting. iStat Menus (http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus) has great user options for things like that.
@jeremylv I'd love to be able to exit out of Sunrise on Mac and have it still be running in background when I pull it back up. I have to minimize it right now.
It takes a couple seconds to load all of my calendars if I exit. Super picky I know and I'm sure there are technical limitations. Just wanted to pass along
I feel like I'm the odd one out for not using Sunrise! I've tried it a few times on my iPhone and definitely love the design, but the social integrations aren't for me—I think it's a clear differentiator from something like Fantastical or Calendars 5 by Readdle that Sunrise is so focused on social integrations and invitations, which I don't use at all.
I also found the Foursquare and Reminders integrations weren't very useful. I'm not sure why you'd want to see where you checked in on previous days (as opposed to having a log in something like Day One of everything you did, including check-ins) and showing Reminders but not being able to edit them seems to defeat the purpose of that integration.
@BelleBCooper Thank you for your feedback.
Have you seen some of the integrations we added to Sunrise lately, which are much more focused on productivity with Github, Asana, Evernote, TripIt and Songkick? We have more integrations on their way.

Beyond integrations, the beauty behind Sunrise is to have one unified experience across mobile and desktop with one single account which always remains in sync.
@jeremylv I have, yep. Although I use Asana, I prefer having my tasks integrated into my calendar so I can edit them as well. Read-only integrations don't do it for me.
I totally see why so many people love Sunrise, though, and I'm really glad to see you doing well :)
@BelleBCooper You'll be happy to hear that Sunrise has a read/write integration with Asana. Whatever you change in Sunrise will reflect in Asana and vice-versa :)
@jeremylv Just some usual things like making new appointment, etc. But sometimes it only shows the 'blank' screen and i can't do anything, even after re-opening the app.
Pretty much running my life through Sunrise now. Just a couple of gcal features that I've found lacking - ability to copy an event from another user's calendar and ability to make attendance option when inviting people. @jeremylv - any plan to support those options down the road?
@jeremylv i'm a little disappointed that i've built my entire life onto this calendar to only have it snatched away. It's a little inconsiderate to be quite honest.
Excited to see this because I really dig the Sunrise app on iPhone, but still have had trouble "making the switch"
Could somebody tell me what the single killer feature aka magic sauce here is?
@jeremylv Awesome man, appreciate it. Also a tiny UX suggestion, when I event durations on my app, could you resize the time bar on the calendar so it reciprocates the changes? Thanks.
@jeremylv So, currently I'm in a bit of a calendar mess - using iCloud to sync across the standard Apple calendar apps. Use Google Apps obviously. Will try and make the switch over to my 2 google calendars this week actually.
@jeremylv Been using Sunrise for a while now - found out about it here when the iOS app launched and absolutely love it.
Have two issues:
1 . The inability of an invitee to remove an event from a day. Will this feature be addressed?
2. Preferences - they don't seem to be synced or saved on devices. Whenever my iMac/MacBook Air restarts I have to set my preferences again.
Both really frustrating issues, which will hopefully be sorted out soon :)
@darenfuchs Thank you Daren!
1. It's an API limitation we have at the moment, where only the event creator has admin rights unless you have those rights with shared calendars. Please refer to this section to share your calendar with other users: http://support.sunrise.am/articl...
2. Thank you for letting us know, we'll look into it.
Great! Looks pretty identical to the Chrome App. One general question though: How come it's not possible to view dates more than a few months in the past? Any plans for changing that?
@kjemperud Indeed, it's quite similar, but the Mac app displays the native notifications.
We decided to only show 18 months total for performance reasons, but are looking into ways to eventually solve this. Stay tuned!
@jeremylv You won me over with third-party apps integrations. I'm a Github, Asana, Evernote, TripIt and Songkick user :D !!
Quick bug-report. I've just had one issue. I've setup an event via Sunrise and asked Sunrise to send out an invite to my colleague (not a Sunrise user, but we all on enterprise GoogleApps ). He has received the Sunrise invite, I had a email confirmation from him. However the event did not appear in his calendar. More to that, the event also disappeared from my calendar. I have no idea what happened.
