Hey Product Hunt! I'm David and I'm excited to share Stupid Notes with you today. I created this app because I wanted a note taking app that does not distract me with features and formatting options that I don't need. And honestly, I always wanted to build a note taking app and needed a fun project for my last vacation. Stupid Notes is deliberately minimal, focusing on just text and checklists—but with a simple AI search to make finding your notes easier. Here are the key features: 💧 Pure text and checklist functionality—no formatting distractions 🗒️ Multiple notepads for better organization 👯‍♀️ Easy note management—move or copy between notepads 🕵️‍♀️ AI-powered Stupid Search 💙 Minimalist, distraction-free interface I'd love to hear your feedback and answer any questions!

It feels like there's a billion note/todo apps, but also none that do just what I want. This one has syncing and todos so it comes close. Mac app when?

The name is definitely an eye-catcher, better than being uninteresting :)

David Pfluegl
@msch Thanks Martin! Mac App is on top of my to do list for Stupid Notes. But for now you can use the iPad version on your Mac. Not ideal, I know, but it might make waiting for the Mac app a bit easier

@christoph_aho Thanks Christoph 😊

Anthony Ferrando

Congratz on the launch, what does it mean the search is AI powered?

David Pfluegl

@anthony_ferrando thanks Anthony! Great question! You can perform a search inside a notepad that will check all the containing notes and get a small summary/proposal/thoughts as well as all notes that are relevant to your search. For example you can ask 'What happened last week?' and Stupid Search will give all notes that you created or changed last week and a summary of these notes

Nice! This really caught my attention. Great idea to focus on easily capturing notes and ideas, instead of getting lost in features. Thumbs up 👍👍

David Pfluegl

@pao_lee Thanks Pao 😊

Congratulations on the launch, a new choice for note-taking, the APP does a great job!

I’ve only made my first note and I love this already! You know what I would love even more ? If you could pull out any actions or follow ups automatically from the note. The design of the app invites Freeform journal type notetaking (at least that’s how I feel ) I ended up basically dictating what I got done in my garden today. There was also in there what I want to do tomorrow. Those would’ve been perfect if they were just pulled out automatically. Just a suggestion.
David Pfluegl

@ragsontherocks thanks Rags 😊 and thanks for your feedback. love the idea!! Will try to add that in one of the next releases

Rags

@david_pfluegl1 what's the best way to give feedback from within the app or report stuff? I've run into a couple of issues today and wanted to flag but didn't know how to from the app. Will leave them here for you:

  • Search seems broken, i keep getting an 'AI error' popup.

  • Deleting a notepad is also failing.

Hope this helps look into things and fix!

David Pfluegl

@ragsontherocks thanks Rags! Good reminder to add a feedback feature to the app, will be part of the next release.

I will also look into your issues right away and try to fix them for the next release.

about your search issue: sometimes the response from Claude is not in the right format and then we get an error. You can try a different search term and check if that works. I will look into making this more robust.

I couldn't reproduce the notepad deletion issue right away but will investigate further.

You can always drop bugs, feedback and ideas at hello@stupidnotes.com

Thanks for trying Stupid Notes and giving feedback, that helps a lot =)

David Pfluegl

@ragsontherocks good news, could fix the bug where deleting notepads didn't work. should work now

Aris Nakos

I love minimalistic projects. Let me know when you get the Mac version. Submit to realreview.space when ready!

David Pfluegl

@ari_nakos Thanks Aris! The Mac App is on top of my to do list. Will check out real review, thx!

Many kudos! It’s an amazing app 🙌☺️ Especially excited about the AI Search, which summarizes nicely when asking “What did I do last month?” ✨✨✨
David Pfluegl
@allanberger thanks Allan 😊

This is stupidly smart.

The branding is bold and consistent. Love how ‘Stupid’ becomes the hook across features (Stupid Search, Stupid Notes...). As a copywriter, I gotta say: this is a playground for creative, humorous copy.

If you ever want to double down on voice and microcopy (like onboarding or empty states), hit me up — I love working on personality-first apps like this!

David Pfluegl

@tarun_salhan Thanks Tarun! I might come back to you for that =)

Tarun Salhan

@david_pfluegl1 Anytime, David! Would love to support you if you ever need some copy magic — especially for something as fun as Stupid Notes. Appreciate the kind words =)

hope Wendy

It's really great, it's equivalent to creating your own knowledge base, you can use AI search to quickly find relevant notes, and if you can connect with other AI tools, there are other possibilities.

David Pfluegl

@hope_wendy Thanks Hope! Integration of more AI tools is something I'm looking into =)

Will the app be coming to Android at all?
David Pfluegl

@g_mane great question! I'm currently focused on iOS and will launch a MacOS version soon. Android would be the next logical step
