I’m super excited to share the official launch of StoryPrompt – the video engagement platform that turns your customers, employees, and community into a powerful marketing engine.
Why I created StoryPrompt:
StoryPrompt was spun out of the challenges I faced at Sendible as a bootstrapped founder. For a period of 3 years, our growth stalled and I needed a way to stand out in a crowded, venture-backed space. 📉
I decided to position us as the smaller, more approachable alternative. So, I opened up my calendar every afternoon for office hours with customers.
What I didn’t expect was that in the process of having these calls, not only was I giving the Sendible brand a face in a sea of faceless competitors, but I was collecting valuable social proof and building a community of advocates.
As a result, we doubled our revenue, were listed as one of the top 3 social media management tools on G2, and were ultimately acquired in 2021. 🚀
However, despite its effectiveness, meeting customers face-to-face every day and collecting feedback in this way just isn’t scalable for most CEOs, let alone companies.
So, I built StoryPrompt to help other businesses engage (and delight) their customers face-to-face without the need for live calls, and then share that delight with the world to grow faster. 🙌
After walking away from Sendible, I opened up early access to StoryPrompt and now 8 months later, I’m thrilled to officially launch here on Product Hunt.

@hnshah@gavin_hammar Looks great! Our team has only started leveraging videos in our content marketing efforts, and we will definitely check your tool out.
That is a great idea, but I suppose that there should be an option to let people perceive an information not only through video but through text as well. These two ways of communication have their own advantages and disadvantages. The question is didn't you think about integrate some video-to-text module to extend your existing functionallity?
It's not about changing your video-to-video communication strategy but about simplifying user expirience. Or you suppose if you would add some auto-generated text it broke the entire concept?

@stavrogyn great question. We are thinking of supporting text and we already have functionality in our API that can convert text to video with voiceovers. This should be coming to the front end soon.
@stavrogyn just to add to this… any audio or videos that are posted or collected are automatically transcribed and users can navigate to parts of the video or read what was said without the need to watch the entire clip.

@britt_joiner Great question, the biggest difference is that Vouch is a text-based request and StoryPrompt is video to video. Essentially you are putting yourself in the same position as the person responding. We find that people respond better via video if they receive a video themselves because they feel they are just having a conversation. One of the biggest differences also is that we have community features which means that while you're engaging with your clients, students etc you can capture UGC like video testimonials and share i the content minutes later.

We're often asked, "What's the difference between StoryPrompt and the other platforms on the market?"
And the truth is, a LOT.
I could discuss this topic for hours, mentioning each and every difference but for your sake (and mine - today's a busy day) I'll just mention the biggest difference.
We believe in video!
This means that we don't offer text-based forms. And we've chosen not to for a reason. Because hardly anyone ever responds to them.
With StoryPrompt, a business will send their client a video message, thanking them for their support and explaining why their opinion truly matters. The client will then record their response, also on video. So you have video-to-video communication. The client and the business are in the same position. And this really works! If you sent a text-based form it's as if you are telling the client, I'm not comfortable on video but I require that of you. This way you're equally vulnerable and the client feels respected.
I can also tell you all about how you can use StoryPrompt to engage with your community asynchronously, our simple UX, how you can capture UGC from any device, how you can automatically add your branding, music, and b-roll to your content, how you can embed CTA's onto your prompt, use templates etc etc.

@dennis_hammar Hi Dennis, that's a great question. We have tried to make it as simple as possible so that is accessible to everyone. The respondent doesn't need to do anything more than click on a link and record from any device. For the person creating the prompt, all the production elements are automatic so they don't require any skills, especially no video editing skills. Hope that helps :)

Can I respond to video and audio content using text? Also, I see videos are automatically transcribed and captioned. Is this information sent to and stored on external servers or on StoryPrompt servers only?
@shammar Hi Stuart, we believe in face to face conversations so we don't offer text-based responses, only video and audio. There's massive value in humanising your brand and showing your face on camera, so I wouldn't overthink it too much, just go for it!
