Spot 2.0 - The next-gen communication app for teams

Hi Product Hunt! Great to be back. When we first launched on Product Hunt a little over a year ago, our product focused on providing a virtual office that tailored a company's culture and brand to the workplace experience. We started Spot because we care about the overall well being of people and communities. Our experiences taught us that a shared environment is key for team members to connect with each other, bring serendipity to the workplace, and to have a high-performing organization. Not to mention, work is a big part of your life and should be a little fun! Since our first launch, we’ve seen thousands of digital workplaces created and hundreds of organizations transform their distributed working experience from a flat list of text and tiles to a more connected virtual experience. We noticed our most successful customers–who are setting the standard for employee experience and culture–are using Spot as their primary communication tool, all day, every day. For these companies, Spot is the employee experience. 💬 Team Chat 2.0 - To that end, we are excited to announce a major revision of our product that doubles down on the communication side of things. We’ve always had basic chat, but this release brings things to the next level: channels, threads, direct messages, and reactions are now all seamlessly integrated. Not only that, but we’ve built them the way we wish they were done in other chat tools (topical threads anyone?). In addition, we are excited to announce a bunch of other major new features and updates as part of this release: 🎨 Major UI Overhaul - Driven by customer feedback, we’ve improved the aesthetic and usability of the entire product– from the application layout to the world itself. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Avatars - Our avatar system has been completely redone and is more customizable and inclusive than ever. 🖥️ API - Every space inside spot is now fully programmable. Have you ever wanted to change the color of a lamp or launch fireworks every time your CI build completes? 📲 Mobile Improvements - The Spot mobile experience has undergone a major revamp and is now a lot more user friendly. 🔍 Search - There is now full message search capabilities in addition to our existing quick search. 🛋️ Customizability - We have launched hundreds of new assets, including portals between different spaces (and even fish tanks). There are also new advanced editing capabilities such as marquee select, revision history, and undo/redo. UI looks really nice!

Looks interesting, especially the avatars. Congratulations on the launch. How would you say Spot is different from Slack or Discord?

As a teacher, I have been using several metaverse platforms so far, and I think SPOT IS THE BEST!

Slack meets spatial chat is a genius idea and looks really nice. One thing I love about spatial chat applications is they bring random encounters to remote workspaces. Gz on the launch!

One of my favorite things about Spot is the amazing ability to build your own office from the ground up and add in your branding. Also it really does create a sense of “home” for employees and I think that something remote employees really do miss about in-person. I do think it’s why turnover rate is so high with remote companies and spot is a great solution for this.

Solid product from a solid team. I've been using spot since v1 - all I can say is that the speed at which this team iterates is INSANE.

SPOT is a great apps that I could make my own online office at ease. It provides 3D experience which is more similar to a face to face meeting.

Spot is the best platform in my life. To summarize the three biggest characteristics of Spot, 1. It's web-based, so it's very accessible and very easy to use. 2. It works very well for collaboration and communication. And you can easily melt web content and tools into Spot. 3. You can easily build your own space. Spot platforms can extend time and space when applied to tasks, collaboration, training, and events.

Go there and meet these guys. Don't forget to give a virtual high-five! I think the best part of Spot is that it feels good to be in The Sims-like environment with real people.

Nothing works! Do you feel the comfort of the sofa when you sit there? Are those speakers heard clearly? Can you feel the expression of the conversation?
