If I annotate a bunch of webpages, does it make it easy for me to go back and find those URLs?
Ezzat Suhaime
@mike_mirandi Hello Mike! Yes, we have a website—spade.tools—which allows you to view all the websites you’ve annotated. Currently, we’re trying to add a folder system to better organize your notes.
Michael Xing
@mike_mirandi You also can view recent annotations when you open the popup, and also click view all to directly go to our dashboard, where you can organize your annotations into folders.

I see you can save edits to the cloud, but could I download them in PDF or DOC form as well? This would be helpful.
Ezzat Suhaime
@john_templeton Hi John! Yes, we have a print feature where you can export to PDFs. We have yet to work on doc formats. The biggest challenge with exporting to documents is that the responsiveness of the DOM and the invariability of annotations conflict.

I like it and I think it's gonna be a great tool for students who use E-learning platform to study or doing test prep (lots of highlighting and note-taking, yeah!).
Michael Xing
Totally! Thanks for taking the time to comment. We’ll also be relaunching soon so watch out for that!

Hi ProductHunt! 👋 We are a group of high school students who are VERY EXCITED 😃 to be able to launch Spade, a chrome extension that enables you to easily annotate the web and connect your ideas. We started Spade with the goal of creating the single best web research/annotation tool for students like us, but we later realized that it has the potential to help many other people too! Spade's features include: 😍 *Draw with shape correction *Highlight *Write text *Automatically save annotations on the cloud *Organize previous annotations on our site *Share Annotations *Print Annotations *Create Summarization and Vocab Annotations Spade for Research: *Evaluate Site Credibility *Automatic citations After a few months of coding (*bugfixing), we are finally launching Spade for the public. It would be AWESOME if you could download our extension and give us some feedback. Thanks and let Spade-work for you! Michael and The Spade Team

Let us know what you think about our features!
Udit Shakya
Does it also allow you to type while annotating ? Great work 💯
Cong Bill
@theuditshakya Currently, it won't allow you to type while you are drawing because once you press the start button, it disables pointer events of anything below the canvas. Do you have any suggestions on a better way to do this?
John Templeton
What if I want to make notes on a PDF or Word document inside the program? I’d love that. A one-stop-shop for everything on and off the web.
Michael Xing
@john_templeton A one stop shop sounds great! We weren't sure if users wanted that feature. We've already coded that feature in another version, and will definitely release it in our next big update! Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Can group the marked pages under topics? Would be helpful that I can share the grouped pages with others.
Michael Xing
@jing_chen3 Yes, you can group marked pages under folders. Right now, you can only share individual pages but we will definitely think about sharing folders and include that feature in our V2.

@ezzat , could you check your email configuration please? I see that you have reached out to your users but when I tried to reply to one of your emails, I got this notification and the email bounced back: "Your message couldn't be delivered to ezzat@spade.tools because the remote server is misconfigured. See technical details below for more information. The response from the remote server was: 554 5.7.1 : Relay access denied"

Oh shoot. thanks for the heads up.

How should we make Spade easier to use?
John Templeton
I tried your extension today. It worked really well. My only issue was the brightness of the highlighter. If I am editing a webpage, someone might not be able to see where I highlighted. The same could be said about the text as well. Even with the correct color the text doesn't stand out. I think with those two fixes, it would be very solid.
Michael Xing
Hey John, we’ve fixed these two issues in our new update- we’re planning to launch Spade again as a general purpose use instead of research tool. Thanks for the detailed feedback!
