Hello, I'm the maker of Slidepad! Very surprised to see it posted here! = ) Thank you @buzzb0x for sharing it! Slidepad is my very first Mac App, if you happen to encounter any problems or have any suggestions, please do tell me! = )
I made Slidepad simply because I was very fascinated by the idea of Station, but found it too heavy for me to use it every day. In the end, all I need is a simple tool that allows me to glance at it and do a quick action, like taking down a to-do or sending a quick message. So I hybrid Helium, Station, and slide-over window from iPad, Slidepad was born.
I do hope you guys will like it! =D
@potter_dai I added you as the Maker :) Two things: the Download button is broken; you should have an about page or at least Twitter link and everything!
@buzzb0x I hear you, sorry for the poor support at current stage. I didn't expect to get featured from Product Hunt, and didn't get well prepared. Haha, my bad! Will definitely catch up soon! = )
@buzzb0x@potter_dai Or, the window can also be made both right and left. Or can be seen at the bottom or upper part of the window.
At the same time.
These are ideas.
I would love to talk to the subject.
Discovered this little utility on a news article from macg.co (French Apple related media) and it is exactly what I was looking for when using Franz or Helium but it actually works.
You can put whatever you want on the floating window and access it quickly from any space. The bonus is that I think it's a Safari webview, not yet another Electron app, so it seems light on battery and CPU.
Don't know who made this but thanks a lot!
@tafkaf Hi, thank you very much for the suggestion! Tab-switching has been implemented in the next update, hopefully to be released today or tomorrow, stay tuned! = )
Really great product, congrats! Just thought about 2 things, it would be cool to have the ability to disable the slide with the mouse and to allow location for a service :)
Hi @jan_koch1 , sorry but the new update seems to have reset the settings in Slidepad. The shortcut will have to be re-assigned. Really sorry for this, I just fixed the bug and it won't happen in the future updates! = )
Hi @imknight there is no limit what you can add to Slidepad, you can simply copy paste https://web.telegram.org/ into the url box and press enter, that should be it. If you encounter any problem, please PM me! = )
@potter_dai
Great app and using the heck out of it, but 3 things needed to for me to make it part of my daily workflow and willing to purchase.
1. Reload and back button on the left sidebar. The sites I keep in sided provide updated data to me, so having to open in and then open menu to refresh the page is a real hassle. I find myself using it less, because I know I have to go through that to see the updated info I use it for in the Space. You could also have a setting that will just automatically refresh a page when I click the tab.
2. Autorefresh on the tabs or at least reload button on side as mentioned above. I would assume a lot of users use this for checking on things. I use it to check specific crypto trades, twitter updates, and news updates, but the hassle required to refresh the page isn't worth keeping it when the steps to clicking on a new tab that already has an auto-refresh extension installed is less steps.
3. Preference setting to open links in new tab in default browser or open as new Space in slide pad.
@clickbrain Hmmm, agree! Will implement auto-refresh option in the next update! For now, please use "Command + R" as a temporary workaround. Thank you very much for your feedback! = )
@clickbrain Auto refresh has been added in the latest update = ) You can right click at sidebar icon to enable it, then the page will refresh each time you switch to it!
this is definitely much better than the many paid apps in the market (Station , Shift , wavebox, Franz 2.0 , Franz 5 ) . It's categorized wrong here. This is not a window management app.
I love this app. It helps me a lot to organize my stuff. One suggestion: can you change or remove CMD+W shortcut from 'Close current tab'? It could prevent users from closing their tabs accidentally. When I want to hide Slidepad I automatically press CMD+W just like I want to close other app.
hi @potter_dai do you have an email I can send support tickets on? Don't think contact@slidepad.xyz went through. Just trying to figure out how to enable links in an external browser. Might be a recent change.
@slidepad@artivilla Hi Arti Villa, could you check if you have this option toggled (https://imgur.com/a/dpb9Jko) ? If not please let me know the website, I'll definitely take a look! = )
