Great tool and I love that it works offline as well. Just a little tip: The example images imply that you also change the width and height of the image.
Filipe Santos Correa
@stefan_kracht Thanks for the tip! You are totally right. I'll add it to my todo list.

Any plans to give Guetzli option? I always run my images through ImageOptim that uses JPEGOptim, Jpegtran, and Guetzli.
Filipe Santos Correa
@johnbhiggins Thanks for testing Shrink Me! Currently I do not plan to support Guetzli, but I will take it into consideration and add it to my list. Maybe I'll support it in the long run ;)

Nice tool, I’ve needed something like this. One feature request: support shrinking of animated gifs by converting to webP
Filipe Santos Correa
@trevin Glad you liked it! Sounds like a great idea. I will take it into consideration ;)

FYI in Firefox (61.0.2) -- the post-optimization save function isn't appending the .zip extension, which results in an unknown file type ("CompressedImages_ShrinkMe" instead of "CompressedImages_ShrinkMe.zip").
Filipe Santos Correa
@tomcharde Thank you for the info! I'll have a look into it.
Filipe Santos Correa
@tomcharde Should be fixed now ;)

It's helpful when you need to post/send smth but the image is to big. You simply need to drag and drop the picture to get resized one. So there's no need to use PS or any other complex editor.

Pros:

Clean interface, easy to use

Cons:

none

I'm glad you liked Shrink Me! Thank you :)

Tried a photo and compared it to tinypng.com. Shinkme saved 5% and tinyPNG 73%. Looks really slick but need more work.
Filipe Santos Correa
@emin_roblack Thank you for your feedback! Did you compress a JPG oder PNG image? In case you compressed a PNG file, my guess is that TinyPNG uses a lossy compression technique on PNG files, which Shrink Me does not. I wanted to preserve the lossless quality of the PNG image format.

This looks promising. Tried it for a few of our photos which we would traditionally use on sites like AirBnB and it reduces file size by half which will help us to speed up listing new properties.

Tried with several images, not compressing that much at all compared to some other sites :/

Pros:

Awesome looking, really lightning fast

Cons:

Bad compression

Filipe, this is helpful, thank you!

Nice one bro but Free? Where is the GitHub repo or code?
Emmanuel Lemor
Hi Filipe, Thank you for your app but I am puzzled why would you release it in its current state... While the site looks fine enough [even if a bit confusing in the message at times], the actual product, is far inferior in result to other results out on the internet - there are many solutions both online and download that do visually perceptively equivalent image manipulation [optimization/compression etc]. It doesn't (unless I missed something) offer a single advantage over other tools out on the market a bunch of which are also free. So what's the roadmap and unique 'selling points' of your solution?
Filipe Santos Correa
@exlemor Hi Emmanuel, thanks for testing Shrink Me! The unique selling point of Shrink Me is that the compression happens within the browser. That means that all your images which you compress on Shrink Me stay on your computer (browser) and won't be uploaded to any server. Other services such as TinyPNG upload your images to a server and compress your files from there. This has the disadvantage that you don't know what happens to your private images. Also, Shrink Me works offline in any modern browser (with Service Workers support), which is also quite unique! While it's true that some sites might offer a stronger compression ratio, Shrink Me is free, ad free, fast, offline capable, and easy to use! Please keep in mind that I created Shrink Me as a fun side project in order to extend my developer knowledge ;)

This is great, the pH form doesn't work on any of my android devices so consider yourself one smiley face up. Free, offline, with no install, and does what it says, this is amazing. If you need to run your images through three compressors to be happy this may not hit the mark but for my clients, being able to quickly shrink things without having to upload them first is exactly what they need.

Would you say you're better than DripBox? :)
Filipe Santos Correa
@shlok_sharma I'm not sure, I don't know DripBox and didn't find it on Google ;) Where can I find it?
Shlok Sharma
@safi1012 Oh sorry, it was a joke based off of the ProductHunt notification that compared your product to PiedPier (reference to a TV show). Your product looks really cool though!
Filipe Santos Correa
@shlok_sharma Ah okay, haha ;) Yes, I should check Silicon Valley out. Thanks for testing Shrink Me!
Patrik Engborg
Looks nice, but doesn't work in latest Safari (11.1.2) at all. I get a success message but compression is 0.0 kb / 0%. Tried several images.
Filipe Santos Correa
@patrikengborg Strange, I have no problems on Safari 11.1.2. My guess is that you selected already compressed images?

For the mac: How does it stand gains the fantastic duo Pngyu & ImageOptim? (I exclude JPEGMINI because you need to pay for it, even if it deserve the price)

Love the simple but beautiful interface! It didn't shrink any of my image as I tried to compress images that were done by ImageOptim but will absolutely revisit the site.

It looks like the makers of this little, handy tool not only did their homework but also somehow peaked what most of us would consider a perfect web app. It's such a nice surprise when a free tool not only works but also works so beautifully well, without any nasty surprises like "image too large, exceeding file-size limit" or"big image, so pay now". Love and respect!

Pros:

Free, no image size limit! Fast, no nonsense, works offline!

Cons:

none
