Shram - Connect daily work with performance

Shram is a gamified work management tool. Not only can you manage projects and tasks but also get real-time reports on each team member's performance. Your productivity is no longer based on number hours worked, but your outcome.

Hi everyone! I am super-excited to share Shram with the Product Hunt community today! 😄 Work management tools are boring and tedious. Most people hate logging in their daily tasks because they are already communicating them over Slack / WhatsApp. So unless pushed by managers, they have little motivation to update their work. ⛔️ As a result, 25% of employees quit their jobs because their efforts are not recognised at work! To solve this we built Shram, to make boring work management fun, engaging and meaningful. How? ❇️ Tasks are the most basic building blocks of work on Shram to keep it simple for everyone. ❇️ Each task has an approval cycle where you can rate how well it was done by the assignee right before marking it as complete (like rating an Uber ride) ❇️ Completing tasks rewards you with XP and each member must maintain a green XP bar to indicate good performance (this bar resets every week) We believe that tasks we do reflect a lot about the people behind them. Overtime, they yield rich insights on improving productivity and transparency in teams. If you have tried conventional tools but could not stick with them, Shram could be a game-changer for you! It boosts team engagement with: ✅ Instant delight, due to workplace gamification, and ✅ Long-term meaning, thanks to our ability to link daily work with performance As a manager, you can spend more time on your real work instead of pushing your team to log-in their daily tasks into boring tools. As an employee, it could be a fun way of nudging yourself in performing better while documenting your contributions!💪 Shram is meant to be a warm blanket instead of a pair of eyes staring through your privacy at work. Here are a few other cool things about Shram: ⏳ No timers - Instead we record time as your interact with tasks in the background ✨ AI-suggestions - While delegating work, you are shown the ideal assignee & deadline 💬 Instant feedback - While rating, you can also share feedback for each task completed ❌ No leaderboards - We don't encourage unfriendly competition by ranking scores ☀️ Beautiful UI - Dynamic and colourful screens to move between relevant screens At present Shram is FREE for use until we release the next version by Aug-end '24. That's because we are already trying to improve the app and its functionalities based on the feedback we have received from our current users. Special thanks to our hunter Rohan Chaubey @rohanrecommends who supported us for this launch. 💪 With this launch, we are primarily looking to gauge the community's sentiment around this idea and also constructive criticism to do better. We look forward to your comments. Thank you for this opportunity! ⭐️

@jay_gadekar Shram sounds like a fresh take on work management! Gamifying Work for Increased Engagement The idea of gamifying work by incorporating elements like task approval cycles, XP rewards, and progress bars is definitely an interesting approach to tackling the common problem of low user engagement in traditional work management tools. - How does Shram ensure that the gamified aspects maintain a balance between fun and motivating engagement while still holding employees accountable for their work? - Can Shram integrate with existing project management or communication tools such as Slack or Asana to minimize disruption to existing workflows? I'm a developer with experience in building user engagement features and integrations with other tools. If you're looking for beta testers or seeking feedback on the user experience and integration capabilities, I'd be happy to contribute! Regards, Max

Congratulations on the launch! 🚀 The interface interactions are very cool, and I love it. It would be even better if shortcut key support could be added. Additionally, could you explain the differences/advantages of Shram compared to Linear?
Jay Gadekar
@hahahalu Thank you very much! :) We look upto Linear a lot. Its built specifically for engineers and now moving toward product teams while Shram is meant for cross-functional work. Linear is faster, more stable with tons of integrations. In fact, based on their blogs, we are rebuilding our back-end to optimise it. And lastly, they have awesome keyboard shortcuts we are going to work on very soon. :) Here's where we differ: Let's think of a production line. We know that the process is optimised if all machines are working in sync with one-another. That is what project management tools like Linear, ClickUp, Asana do. But they simply do not touch the other aspect, which is how well the machines are performing. That is seen as the job of performance management tools, which add up cost and also a learning curve. Tools that look at both aspects treat humans literally like machines. So the overall experience of an employee is still pretty sad. Engagement goes for a toss because these tools can be really boring and tedious to use. Unlike other tools, Shram's architecture allows it to gauge performance real-time based on granular work your team members do daily. With time, this could replace the dreadful evaluations that managers and HR reps engage in and recognise each one of your team member's effort without bias. Best: this will all be fun and meaningfully gamified. To summarise, we are looking at this problem macroscopically. For us, project mgmt, performance mgmt and employee engagement are intertwined. And our vision is to empower transparent workspaces of the future! :)

🧐 Good find
Congratulations on the launch! Looks pretty cool and I am keen on giving it a shot. Here's an honest feedback: your description on Product Hunt is better than your landing page, where there are a lot of big words, but lacks clarity regarding what your service really is. Also, you don't seem to have proper validation for email. I can enter a@a in email field and it takes me to next step. You should add validation for top level domain there.
Jay Gadekar
@naomigarcia Hey Naomi! Thank you for your feedback. Yes you are right! TBH, we updated our PH description right before the launch and you will find variations almost everywhere. That's because we have been exploring what suits us best from your perspective. I will fix up the email validation and push the code asap. Sorry for this. Generally, I am particular about these things but missed it here. Thank you again! :)
Kehui Guo
I like the concept! My team has been using Asana to track product/design progress for a while and it's always a pain to accurately measure the effort and t-shirt size for work. Tracking and evaluating outcomes are definitely what we need the most. Congrats on the launch!
Jay Gadekar
@kehui_guo Thank you Kehui! FYI, we will be launching a far better version of Shram very soon, which would do evaluations real-time. We will keep you posted! :)
Kehui Guo
@jay_gadekar Thank you, Jay! Looking forward to it:))

The gamification aspect of Shram sounds interesting. How does the XP system integrate with other task management features?
Jay Gadekar
@memphys_sk Here's how Shram's XP system integrate with task management: 1. There is a weekly progress bar each teammate must try and make green by gaining XP. This bar resets to 0 at the end of each week so that competition is avoided and instead everyone has the opportunity to be the best this time 2. You gain XP when the approver of your task marks it as complete and rates your task out of 5. The XP gained is a function of the task rating and its duration. We are soon introducing difficulty as well. 3. The more tasks you do the more XP you gain. Most importantly, quality of work is also accounted for because of ratings provided by the approval process. So the better you perform the more XP you gain Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to ask me more. Thank you! :)

@jay_gadekar @ojasvika_sahu Love this product!!! I've used plenty of productivity tools at Oracle, Solver and other companies and this one is the best yet.. The simplicity in onboarding and figuring out how to organize differentiates this product. Making things simple is actually super difficult so kudos to this team! Keep up the great work.

Rushabh Shah
Jay and Ojasvika, interesting launch. Will definitely give it a try. You've very innovatively gamified task management and combined it with productivity tracking. This will help me as an SME to track team productivity. Just a quick question, this is a dark theme which some prefer over light theme, however, professional tools were always light themed. Is there a way to toggle light mode?
Jay Gadekar
@rushabh_shah_bolstart Thank you very much! :) And yes, you could go to settings, select "Display" and change the "Display preference" to "Light mode".
