Selldom - Make money from your unused domains 💸

Selldom allows you to buy and sell domains that are waiting silently in the dark, unused at your registrar after your 100th side-project pivot.

Was browsing online for a free way to sell domain names and I came across this! Didn't see it on PH, so I figured I'd share
Amrith
@boxivine do you happen to know who made this? 🤔
sami
Hunter
@amrith The only public contact info I could find from the maker is the website's twitter, which I just edited the post with (this is my first hunt ever, apologies!) I do have their e-mail address, but I'm not sure what the rules are when it comes to that!
Amrith
@boxivine brand accounts aren't allowed on PH, I'm trying to find the makers' personal account now :)

@amrith Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up. I just emailed the maker a link to this post, so hopefully he'll register on PH!
Cyril
@boxivine It's me :) I'll reply to your email to let you know. My twitter handle is @cx42net. Thank you for hunting me Sami!!
Amrith

Cyril

@cx42net i like the name too :) Wanted to ask how is it different from existing domain auction marketplaces such as GoDaddy Aftermarket?
sami
Hunter
@cx42net @gauravmakkar84 not the maker, but I can answer based on my experience with both services. GoDaddy Aftermarket requires an annual subscription and is very laggy/glitchy, whereas Selldom is completely free and has one of the simplest designs I've seen
Cyril
@gauravmakkar84 @boxivine Thank you for the reply and the warm comparison ;)

Hey @cx42net looks like you were selling this website(selldom.io) few days back, right? https://news.ycombinator.com/ite...
Cyril
@v2s2c That's right, still is if you are interested! :)

This is a great product. However, all my Google Domains are showing up with this message: "No A entry found in the DNS database for this domain."
Cyril
@laurenwhite Can you give me the name of one of your domain and I'll take a look! :)
Lauren White
@cx42net sure, it's happening for all my google domains but one of them in particular is avoidfines.com as an example.
Cyril
@laurenwhite I never used Google domains, so pardon me if I say wrong things. You need to select your domain and click on the DNS icon settings. Then go at the end of the page, at Custom resource records. On the first field, you put the "selldom-{token}" value (replace {token} by the value you have on Selldom), instead of A in the dropdown, select TXT, ignore the 3rd field, and in the last one, put any message you want. This should work, let me know! (I followed this video to found the views: https://youtu.be/J4B5Ek95Xgc?t=723)
Lauren White
@cx42net Thanks! I am a bit stumped at the part about what I am supposed to replace {token} with, sorry! What do you mean by the value I have on selldom, when I don't have a value yet?
Cyril
@laurenwhite No worries :) Right after you add a domain on Selldom, the service asks you to add a DNS entry of type TXT at your registrar. The value asked is something like selldom-a5b23.yourdomain.tld The selldom-a5b23 is what I was referring, and the {token} in that example is "a5b23". Of course, this will differ in your case, I don't know what "token" you will have. Hope that makes sense!
