Roamr for Friends - Get paid to stay with friends on work trips
Roamr For Friends by Roamr enables employees to earn income for saving their company money on travel.
We're sick of old corporate travel processes & experiences. The way we work & live has changed. Its now time to disrupt corporate travel processes too.

Stephen here, Founder of Roamr—and today, I’m beyond excited to introduce Roamr for Friends to you all!
Work travel has always been broken. Expensive hotels, lonely stays, and zero financial benefit for employees. Meanwhile, companies are burning cash on accommodation with rising hotel prices. Instead, employees could be staying with people they actually know and trust.
That’s why we built Roamr for Friends—a super simple way for employees to stay with friends instead of hotels—and get paid for it. 💰 Your company saves money, you and your host earn a kickback, and work travel actually becomes enjoyable.
We’re already working with companies like Deel, Remote, and Oyster to help their people rethink work travel, and today, Roamr is live in 100+ countries! 🌍
This idea started when @jason_o_gorman1 and I saw the radical shift in the way we work. Distributed work means teams are more global and while that is great for flexibility, we need to meet regularly in person to build culture, collaboration and engagement. However, that costs a fortune nowadays. We found a win-win-win.
We’re thrilled to launch this to the Product Hunt community and would love to have some of you test the product on your next trip! Excited to hear your feedback, and help us make work travel more rewarding! 🚀

@jason_o_gorman1 @stephen_dooley1 amazing concept, well done on putting this together. Smart idea to incentivise employees to get savings.
@jason_o_gorman1 @stephen_dooley1 great idea, all the best!
@jason_o_gorman1 @stephen_dooley1 fantastic folks, great launch and awesome looking product!
First of all, huge congratulations on launching this product! 🎉
There’s something I’d like to ask. Does this mean that employees stay at a friend’s house? Or that they share a hotel with a colleague while on a business trip? If it’s the former, how does this differ from Airbnb?
@kay_arkain hey Kay, thansk so much for the question & support.
What we do is we take the money the company would have spent on a hotel and split that between the Travelling employee and their host (minus some cost savings too for the employer).
So imagine you have a work trip to New York, instead of your company spending $300 on a hotel each night, you can stay with a friend/family/colleague. You'll earn $105/night, your host earns $105/night and your company saves $60/night.
So we differ from airbnb in two ways:
1) Companeys are guaranteed savings of 20% vs their alternative accommodation (hotel or airbnb)
2) The traveller and the host earn money too.
Does that make it a bit clearer?
@stephen_dooley1 That’s a win-win for all! Appreciate your reply.
This is great, not only the money saving but also the opportunity to create greater connections between employees who stay together. Will definitely be trying this out
@stephen_dooley1 I’ve just sent this on to some friends who travel a lot for work, one who oversees travel in their company (large org). I’ve just connected with you on LinkedIn and will let you know their feedback/make some intros!
Love this concept allowing people to create more human interactions with colleagues, all while saving money! No brainer really.
@jake_spelman Thanks Jake! You've hit the nail on the head, that's exactly our mission here at Roamr. We felt the changing ways we work created opportunity for flexibility but we are still human and still need to have that in person experience every so often!
This is such an amazing concept. There aren't a lot of ecosystems that are truly win-win-win but this just makes so much sense for travelers, hosts and employers. I was a member in the early access and would HIGHLY recommend Roamr to anyone who travels for work, to companies that want to travel without breaking the bank and to anyone with some spare space that they want to monetize easily.
@jim_coughlin Woohoo, thanks for the support Jim!
Love this! It’s a no brainer. Great opportunity for companies to increase the amount of time they spend working together in person while keeping the benefits of remote and not increasing costs!
@tadhgol cheers Tadhg! Great to hear that from a product guru like yourself
Kerno [Public Beta]

Congrats @stephen_dooley1 and @Roamr for Friends team. I've had the privileged of using the product to host and to be hosted - excited to see more people discovering Roamr. No brainer!!
I've been following the team through socials for a while now, loving this new angle! I've a couple of companies in mind that I could see this working for so let me loop you guys in.
There's an insane difference that can be made to the bottom line for CFO's here, particularly with us trending back towards more face-to-face time with clients, and more overnight stays off the back of that.
Roamr for Friends
@tiernan_mc_dermott not only huge savings but the money you were spending is now going to your employees! Everybody is a winner!
Roamr is an excellent concept, I have benefited first hand from using Roamr. Very Exciting future ahead, like air bnb before it there is huge potential to put money back in ‘ordinary’ peoples pockets!
@des_golden Thanks Des, means a hell of a lot that our first Roamr is still a thriving community member!

This is a super creative way to make business travel more affordable and sociable! Loving the concept. Congrats on launching!🎉
Cool idea! Does the person you are staying with have to work in the same company as you? Or can they be any friend?
@bendunlea Not anymore! Thats what this product does, it allows Roamrs to stay within their personal network as well as their work colleagues.
To the moon 🚀
@aidan_boyle lets gooooo!!
This is going to be revolutionary. Can’t wait to see where it goes.
@dominic_walshThanks Dominic! Praying you're right
Such a great tool! Congrats to your launch Stephen & Team!
@marvin_maendle thanks Marvin , we're glad you like it. The team worked their butts off for it!
Great idea Stephen and well done for bringing the concept to reality.
@padraig_keating thanks a million! just getting started
Great stuff Stephen and a great product! Onwards and upwards 🙌
This looks like a really good idea!! Can see how it differs from the current process but how do you calculate prices?
Roamr for Friends
@charlie_o_donoghue There are a few factors. The main ones are, we use any existing policies companies have. Often larger companies have set prices per city they conmanly travel too. We also then check the latest market prices for the date and location to make sure we are driving actual savings
A great idea and fantastic to see an offering like this come to market. Work travel can be a very sterile and expensive experience. This is an opportunity to experience a more welcoming environment, keep costs down and still meet work travel demands. A win-win for employee, employer and host! Have been tracking Roamr on LinkedIn for a while now. Continued success guys!!
@paddy_o_connell really really appreciate that Paddy. Sterile & soulless being added to our hotel adjective list after today
