I have been using RIVYT for months to host my website for my YouTube channel. This new functionality just takes things one step further. It allows people to experience the content without all the rubbish.

Pros:

This is a great way to experience YouTube without the hinderance of Youtube itself!

Cons:

None that I have found yet

Thanks, Chris!

@mrdobelina Thanks, Filippo!

This is quite cool, actually. It also presents bigger preview on Facebook as compared to sharing a YouTube URL, which could make Facebook posts more engaging.

Hello @themolitor and @jschuller, This seems amazing and can be the great alternative to paid YouTube-skin features of VooPlayer etc. But it needs a WordPress plugin for sure. Can we currently emded it on WordPress site? Are you planning to monetize it as well in near future? I would love to know if you guys have any plan to create a WordPress plugin so that any YouTube videos posted on Posts can be wrapped with riv-yt codes and hence can be made beautiful and distraction full. I would also want you to include 'Sticky video' of Facebook like 'floating video' feature if you are thinking to create WP plugin. :) Thank you.

@jschuller @niteshmanav Thanks Nitesh! Some great suggestions here. We're excited at everyone's reaction and brainstorming possible implementations of riv.yt. We definitely have a laundry list of ideas and features we want to integrate into this service. It's just a matter of sitting down and deciding on which one we should focus on first ;-)

@jschuller @themolitor Thanks for the response. Well, I had forgotten about the parent project 'Rivyt' that I had loved and upvoted months back. :) The designs at rivyt is simply top-notch now. I think you guys should think about some 'agency plan' for your rivyt model as well, where a digital media agency can get a while-labeled rivyt for their clients' YouTube channel. I might try to contact you externally for some partnership soon. Be ready. :)

Another beautiful looking project, congrats! I thought it might be useful to have a "Shared by" link at the bottom of the page too, so I could attach my name / avatar to the link. Also it might be cool to look at distraction free playlists at some point too. I continue to love what you guys are making!
Jason Schuller
@liammckay Thanks Liam ... will definitely keep "shared by" and playlists in mind for future updates.

Just wanted to repeat my feature request from twitter here: Youtube's API supports both starting and ending timestamps as parameters, but youtube.com only supports the starting parameter. riv.yt could really capitalize on this as the easiest way to share a distraction-free segment of a video!
Jason Schuller
@nathang Awesome suggestion. Will definitely keep this in mind for a future update.
Christopher John
@nathang Thanks for sharing that feature idea! We definitely plan on adding more features to this, so stay tuned!

Jason Schuller
@stooodley Thanks ... will definitely keep that in mind for an update.

Yet another great product from the RIVYT folks.

Pros:

Way easier to share a video with someone when you know they’ll be able to focus solely on the content itself. Super sleek!

Cons:

Nada

Christopher John
Thanks Carl!!!

You guys are absolutely killing it. Also who was that handsome guy in one of the thumbnails on the intro to your promo video 🤣
Christopher John
@unclejessy4real Lol! Thanks Clayton!

@themolitor @jschuller Love it. And have an immediate use for it. I got a small complaint though. When you're viewing the individual video page and click play it opens up the youtube player and you have to click play again to actually start playback. That's confusing.
Christopher John
@jschuller @romanzadyrako Thanks! In order for views to count on YouTube, Google requires users to manually click the play button in the video embed. We’re working on adding “advanced options” that include an auto-play feature for users that are sharing a video and are not concerned about view count.
Shikha Jain

Chakib Tsouli

I love the idea, but consider a dark mode.

No dark mode
