Hello Product Hunt! I was disappointed when Apple removed the calculator widget in macOS Big Sur. I liked having a calculator instantly available to me whenever I needed to do a simple calculation. As a substitution for the widget's absence, I decided to build Quick Calc, a simple menu bar calculator.

@bosstanabe Once you open the app, you can access it from the button from the menu bar. Otherwise, there is no other built-in shortcut.

Cmd+Space for Spotlight (or Alfred!) and then type in your equation for your result. Why would I use this tool that requires me to have an app run in the background and use my cursor rather than quick keyboard shortcuts?

@andrewdavidj Honestly, it barely takes up energy or battery life (I checked activity monitor). Regarding usage, each to their own. I just wanted an app as a substitute for the notification center widget, but of course there are other alternatives like the ones you mentioned, so I can see why everyone would not want to download this app.
