This is really cool, I honestly hate all the free PDF apps on the Mac. What's the catch though with yours being free?
Silvia
@puneet_kohli Free apps always show annoying ads. So far, PDF Gear does not offer any ads.
Maggie Anne
@puneet_kohli There's no catch, honestly. We currently focus on developing a good app and the growth of the user base, so PDFgear Desktop now stays completely free and clean. PDFgear may turn freemium in the future, but that's not something that concerns us for the moment.

First of all, thanks a bunch for making this nice app. Among all the free PDF apps, this is the most feature reach one I've found so far. So, kudos to that. Some feedback - 1. When I launched the app, it didn't show any "edit" option in the tools. I thought it doesn't have it, even though the website said it has. I thought I've been tricked. Only after I actually opened a pdf - then only the edit options showed up. IMO, that's a poor design choice. Read / Edit / Annotate etc should be visible as tools in the main app window, even before opening any pdf in it. 2. The pdf text editor implementation is very poor. It treats each word as a separate block of text. Editing or deleting any word doesn't move the other text accordingly. For example, if I replace a short word with a long word, the longer word now overlaps the next unedited word. Or if I delete a word, it just creates a gap in the para; the next word doesn't come take its place. Thus, the pdf text editor is almost useless. IMO, text editing should be similar to a text file editing. (It's not always possible to convert to docx, edit, convert to pdf. Page styling / format gets lost most of the time.) 3. Request - Would it be possible to add a "Bookmarks Editor" feature? 4. Does the app have a self auto-updater or will I have to manually check for any updates?
Maggie Anne
@vicky_buddie Hi there, thanks for your precious feedback. The Edit text feature is not quite perfect at this stage, so please stay tuned for a later release. The self auto-updater will appear in the future, for now, you may need to manually check for updates. As for the "Bookmarks Editor" feature, we need time to refer to how similar products do it, and then apply it to PDFgear. Please believe that PDFgear will get better and better.

I have been wondering why it is so difficult to find a good PDF editing program. Many people have to pay way too much or use several websites to sign, manage, and merge PDFs. I'm rooting for you
