NotionApps - Build apps from Notion databases in minutes
byβ’
Build apps from Notion databases without coding. Start with your own data or with a template, and configure what data is shared with each user. Customize the app with login, menus, lists, forms, and 20+ components.
Hello Product Hunters! πΊ
This is Sameer, co-founder of NotionApps. Thank you for checking out our launch!
The Idea π‘
Jatin and I have been building tools in the no-code space for the past 4 years. And we use Notion for everything internal. We understand the strengths of the tool and also its pain points.
At the beginning of the year, when we decided to pivot, we talked to more users in the Notion community and we realized a lot of them share similar pain points.
The pain points π ββοΈ
π There is no simple way to share data with those who do not intend to use Notion (like clients, vendors, field teams, etc)
β¨π Notion does not have granular database permissions (share only specific data to users)β¨
π Limitations in views especially in the mobile experience, also not many options to customize the layout.β¨
π Notion does not have app-like functionalities such as custom sign-up/login, navigation menus, QR scanning, location tracking, etc
The solution π
A tool to build apps from Notion data without coding. The apps look professional, load blazing fast, and are mobile-friendly.
Since the apps are PWAs they can be shared by a link and also installed (Add to home screen) on any device.
The features π οΈ
We are adding new building blocks to the app builder every week. Some important features include,
1. List views
2. Grid views
3. Custom domain
4. Enable login
5. Database permissions
6. Forms to add data
7. Forms to update data
8. Location components
9. Media components
10. Barcode scanning β¨..and more
We take our feature requests seriously, some upcoming features include Relation support, showing page content in the app, and desktop view.
The use cases π΅οΈββοΈ
We are seeing our early customers use the tool for various use cases. While we come across new use cases frequently, here are some popular ones
1. Catalogues
2. Directories
3. Event portals
4. Employee portals
5. Client portals
6. Membership apps
7. Partner apps
8. Field apps
What use case do you have in mind?
Thank you once again, canβt wait to hear your feedback.

@sameer_sanagala Great Invincible Product! I think this has so many applications also for agencies to manage client communication and task assignment, the variations you are providing allow for making complex workflows! Great Work!
@yahya_elfaqir1 Thank you for the positive words, Yahya. We did come across some agencies (who are Notion users) creating client portals and employee dashboards using the tool.

@sameer_sanagala I am an agency owner myself launching a productized service, I will be for sure using it!
Hey PH Community!
This is Jatin, the other co-founder of NotionApps. Sameer has already described what NotionApps does and how our users are using it. I wanted to take a step back and reflect on how we got here. We started building a different no-code tool back in late 2019. We struggled to gain enough traction and saw the market getting more crowded by the day. At last, when we decided to pivot, it was a hard decision. It felt like we were quitting on our product. In hindsight, we should have pivoted earlier. What we thought was a failure, turned out to be an outlet for all things we wanted to do with the first product. These are the things we did quite the opposite in the second product (compared to the first):
1. A NotionApps community from Day 1 π€
2. Better documentation π
3. Focus on PLG flows π
4. Focus on marketing π’
5. and, finally a Product Hunt launch π₯
NotionApps is a labor of love. We want to expand Notionβs ecosystem with our app builder. I hope you see the vision that we see and leave some feedback for us! Thanks for stopping by!

@jatinarora The fact that you focused on Better Documentation after learning from the 1st product is a great lesson for all of us.
A question I had regarding relations between tables which I see are coming soon. Will you have a migration path for data once they land?
@parul0_0 Hey Parul! Documentation is such a low-key PLG hack. Some people like to figure stuff out on their own. As for the Relations part, yes, the migration will be flawless. You'll have to click on the "Reload" button in the app builder and you should start seeing the Relation columns.
@jatinarora Congrats Jatin and team! Thank you for sharing this - we don't hear about the hard decisions enough, and appreciate your vulnerability and perspective here, which benefits all of us. Good luck today and moving forward!
Excited to hunt NotionApps! I think NotionApps has the potential to be a game-changer for users who want to create new and innovative apps with Notion.
Here are a few specific things I like about NotionApps:
- It's easy to use. Even if you're not a developer, you can create custom apps with NotionApps.
- It works seamlessly with Notion.
- It's powerful. NotionApps can be used to create a wide variety of apps, from simple to complex.
- It allows granular data sharing with people in or outside of your Notion workspace.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a way to extend the functionality of Notion.
@shushant_lakhyani Thank you Shushant for supporting us all along. We are more excited about the feedback as there are a lot of Notion users on Product Hunt. Top 3 is a nice bonus :)
Notion Apps team, congrats on the launch! I wish I had such a product earlier. So much time could be saved. @natella_nuralieva , check it out. It is like your love for creating lists with Notion and developing things finally meet in one place :) I think that we could try to visualize the use cases of our own product with this app. Thank you! And congrats one more time!
@mary_rumyantzeva@sameer_sanagala Sameer, thank you, I'll try it out and will schedule a call if the tool is something that will help me with the workflow - I'll try to get back with the feedback asap

Congrats on your launch! Just saw this tool a few days ago by chance.
It feels like you're nailing a key inflection point - Notion moving into advertising Databases more, people looking for Airtable alternatives, and Directories being a thing :)
Would love to hear about something you'd implement if you could 10x your team size?
Since you asked for feedback -
I'd personally love to see a clearer example under the "Build an app for free" section. I see some screenshots there, but I'm really not sure what I'm looking at π
Would also love some integration of a design system like Float UI (Cc @sidi_jeddou_dev ) or Material Design. :)
@sidi_jeddou_dev@esus Thank you so much for the detailed feedback. This is exactly what we were seeking when we decided to launch on Product Hunt.
Even our hunch is that there is a need for app builders made for new-age productivity tools like Notion and Airtable. While there are quite a few for the latter, there aren't any for Notion and we want to fill that gap.
Noted your feedback about clearer examples on the home page, and using a more lucrative design system is something that we have been tracking. Float UI is already on the list π

Congrats on your launch. Notion apps looks like a great tool for MVP creation. Do you have payments on your roadmap? That would make it even more helpful.
@karsten_picasi Thank you for the kind words, Karsten. MVPs powered by Notion data, is one of the use cases that we are closely looking at. We do have payments in our future roadmap, I would love to know more about your use case.
While a direct integration would be more seamless, there is one workaround as of now, you can use the Button component for your apps and configure them to open your Stripe/payment links.
@karsten_picasi Hey Karsten, in case you want help with your use case, I will be happy to get on a quick 15-30 min call. This way I can also learn more about what you are building. Here is the link to book a slot, https://calendly.com/notionapps/...

I've encountered a couple of MVPs in Notion over the years, so there's definitely a market for this product!
@nikkielizdemere thatβs insightful. Thanks for sharing. If possible, weβd love to know more about their use cases.

Oh sorry, follow up question - Do you have any plans for a LTD? I would instantly buy but am delaying for design, so LTD might be a better fit for me. π
@esus Sounds fair. We are still understanding the pros and cons of LTD. But I would love to have a chat and figure out how to fit in your requirements.
Report
@esus I also have a drag and drop system for both website and app. No code for customers who don't know how to code. Customers who know how to code can develop 100% of the functions for their customers in a very simple way. You can see my demo
@esus Hi Esus, in case you want to discuss more about LTD and design requirements for your use case, I will be happy to get on a quick 15-30 min call. You can book a convenient slot here, https://calendly.com/notionapps/...
Wow, NotionApps sounds like a game-changer for those who love utilizing Notion for organization and data management! I have a few questions that I hope you can answer:
1. Can you provide examples of the apps that can be built using NotionApps? I'm curious to see the versatility and potential use cases.
2. How does configuring data sharing with each user work? Is it customizable on a per-user basis or more of a global setting?
Additionally, I wanted to share a resource that might be valuable for your launch. Have you considered contacting specific communities or forums where Notion power users gather? These communities could be a great place to generate buzz and get feedback from potential users.
I'm excited to see how NotionApps evolves and how it can streamline app development for non-coders like myself. Keep up the great work!
@valeriia_dziubenko Thank you for your kind words, Valeriia! As for your questions:
1. Our users have built client portals, event portals, business portfolio, member portals, inventory management, finance trackers, field apps, etc. using NotionApps. Would you like to share with you links to some of the public apps?
2. The data customization is both global and per-user. What I mean by that is, you select a column that has the email address of the user. When the user logs in, they say only the rows where their email address is added. We wrote more about it here, https://docs.notionapps.com/user....
Please share the resource listing Notion communities. I would love to push NotionApps in those communities. And please share your feedback once you try out the tool.
@valeriia_dziubenko Thanks for your interest, Valeriia. In case, you want help when you build your app, I will be happy to get on a quick 15-30 min call. This way I can also learn about your use case. Here is the link to book a slot, https://calendly.com/notionapps/...
