Hi Maker. Can you let us know what are the difference from other products, ie. Magnet https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ma...?
Rafael Copstein
Hi @congnc, my main focus while developing Mosaic was to provide a simple, elegant, and straight-forward solution that fits the workspace of both professionals and less tech-savvy users. Besides window managing, Mosaic allows you to customize the space between windows - which leads to a less cluttered experience - as well as move windows to other positions relative to their current location. Both, to the best of my knowledge, are not available in similar products :)
Stewart Barrett
@congnc @rcopstein - Exactly the question I was thinking. Thanks for covering off this! Looks like I might be switching from Magnet, which has served me well for years and years. If you don't use a product like this - YOU NEED TO START! It's life changing. I can never go back to not using one.
Jason Cutler
@rcopstein If you are referring to the buffer spacing, the utility 1Piece has that feature https://app1piece.com/ as does Amethyst but that one is a tiler so not quite the same.
Rafael Copstein
@jasonology, that's good to know. I didn't know this app, but it looks quite interesting 🙂
Hui Yuan Feng
Any chance this might come out for Windows?
Rafael Copstein
Hi @hui_yuan_feng, right now there are no plans to add support for other platforms, but it may come in the future! Windows 11 is coming out soon with some cool support for window snapping, which might help in the mean time (though I like Mosaic better ;) )
Thea Mark
This is a very useful tool! Can't wait to try it!
Rafael Copstein
Hi @thea_mark, thank you! I hope you enjoy it! :)
Richard Goodwin
Any relation to https://www.lightpillar.com/mosa... ? Saw it in SetApp and looked quite similar but I haven't tried either. About to :)
Richard Goodwin
In service of future readers, my (very) quick comparison: (this) Mosaic: - More intuitive initial approach - fewer permissions requested - very nice startup tutorial - low impact, focus on snapping-based layout (the other) Mosaic: - Far more customizable, but higher learning curve - including saved groups, customizable regions - needs more permissions - Cost? (I get it through SetApp so not sure) Summary (my own opinions!): - Want quick, design-considerate snapping at a great price? (this) Mosaic - Want to tweak like crazy (including layout groups and custom regions and who knows what else) but don't mind figuring it all out first? (the other) Mosaic Kudos on the simplicity and user experience!
Rafael Copstein
Hi @rgoodwin, other than the same name, this Mosaic is not related to Lightpillar's. Thank you for trying it out and for your comparison! I think it is a great summary of both products! If you have any suggestions on how to improve the app, please let me know :)
Preeti Chovoor
This is exactly what I would need for my meetings!
Rafael Copstein
Hi @preeti_chovoor, awesome! Let me know how it works for you! 😉
Andrew-David
Thought this was an updated version of an app I already use, also called Mosaic and that also does the same thing as this app: https://www.lightpillar.com/mosa... Two apps in the same space with the same name might be problematic – You should look into that.
Rafael Copstein
Hi @andrewdavidj, thank you for you comment. This has been brought up before and I am looking into it. Rebranding is definitely not an easy job, hence why it hasn't yet happened. Meanwhile, in order to mitigate that, I've been referring to (my) Mosaic as "Mosaic by @rcopstein" (I changed the name here to reflect that. Thank you for the heads up!). I do encourage you to give it a try. There's a 15-day free trial available to all users. I focus on the aesthetics and simplicity of the app, which you may like. Otherwise, feedback is always appreciated 😊
Sophiary Lam
This looks amazing! I would love to use it! Congrats on launching!
Rafael Copstein
Thank you, @sophiarylam! 😁 I encourage you to give it a try with the 15-day free trial. If you want the full version, don't miss out on the special price for Product Hunt backers: https://mosaic.rcopstein.com/che... ! 😉
Chris Messina
Top Hunter
Reminds me of Hookshot.
Rafael Copstein
Hi @chrismessina, indeed it does! Having regions on the menu bar is a tested and approved approach by many window managers. Despite that, I do encourage you to try Mosaic for its focus on simplicity, aesthetics, and user experience. I hope you enjoy it! 😊
Alina Sytnik
Cool and interesting product :)
Rafael Copstein
Hi @alina_sytnik, thank you, I'm glad you liked it! :)
Maëla Daugan
It's a very nice project, the product looks practical to use, it's great!
Rafael Copstein
Hi @maela_daugan, thank you! My goal is to provide a simple and elegant experience that's appealing to both professionals and less tech-savvy users. I truly believe Mosaic achieves it :)
ozzik
super clean and well designed. loved the thought on keyboard shortcuts ❤️
Rafael Copstein
Hi @ozzik, thank you! I always felt like the shortcuts should be just that: shortcuts. If they are super complicated, it just takes me longer to use them haha Enjoy! 😁
Logan Corkwell
A dream come true for someone who uses far too many windows, wishing you success on this!

I have used this product for 6+ months and I absolutely love it
Rafael Copstein
Hi @890622joachim, that's great to hear, I'm glad you like it! If you have any suggestions, comments, or feedback in general, feel free to let me know ;)
Jeff Rogers
Very nice! Only one feature I miss from competitive products... resizing windows back to previous size when you move them out of their snapped position.
Rafael Copstein
Hi @jeffrogers, thank you! That is already on the backlog and should be coming out soon! Stay tuned! ;)
Jeff Rogers
@rcopstein Nice! Looking forward to it. I'm now a registered user. Enjoying the simplicity and UI polish.
Zachary Jordan
Just downloaded it and am trying out the free trial. So far, so good. I've been looking for a product like this — if all goes well by the end of the free trial I'll buy it! Great work :)
Rafael Copstein
Hi @zachary_jordan1, awesome, I'm glad you are enjoying it! Don't forget to make use of the special discount for Product Hunt supporters! 😉
Marco
Does macOS doesn't have this by default?
Rafael Copstein
Hi @marco_laspe, the default macOS functionality is very limited in this regard. It only allows for side-by-side applications on fullscreen mode. Mosaic is a lot more versatile offering 17 different ways to position your windows! 🙂
Jason Cutler
Hi Rafael, just trying it out now. Congratulations on releasing an app! I love window managers. Can I comment on the default keyboard shortcuts: besides the ones with arrow keys, they don't seem to make logical sense. Is there a way to change them?
Rafael Copstein
Hi @jasonology, thank you! Right now there is no way to customize the keyboard shortcuts, but that should come in a future update (which is included for both trial and full users)! The idea behind the keyboard shortcuts is that they reflect the position the window is going to take on the screen: quarters are on four opposing corners, halves are on opposite sides, and so on...
Sandra Beyonce
Great, Interesting :O!

Thank you for this!
