Hi, I created Memorable Password Generator, a simple Chrome addon to generate memorable passwords. If you don't use password managers and you want to use strong passwords that are easy to remember you might like this. It's a dead simple Chrome addon that does only one thing, and it's completely free and without ads.

I love how it generates passwords with recognizable words, making them memorable and unique. It's truly a game-changer in the world of password security. My question is, does the addon also provide options for customizing the length and of the generated passwords?

@al_llamas following this thread! Curious to see the answer too

@al_llamas I wonder how "random" the generator generates the combinations. Have you tried this yet? Was wondering if it has a password vault feature as well
Romain Simon
@al_llamas For the moment, it is not yet possible to configure the generated passwords. I might add this if there is enough demand. I was also thinking of something allowing you to control the format
Romain Simon
@al_llamas @rafael_gepuela It generates a sequence of words and randomly does some changes such as changing the case of words, adding random separators, or changing some letters. I might improve that because some passwords are still way more complicated than others. But at least you can regenerate and pick either a mor secure one, or an easier to remember.

I laughed at the passwords! Very cool idea. I'll keep it!

@andres_rivera3 If you laughed that means you could remind them? 😅

Very interesting product! I've spent really some time in this era and it's shocking to see how people choose passwords if they need to come up with it themselves - so this is something very helpful for them. As you're probably an expert in this area, what's your stake on passwordless solutions? :)
Romain Simon
@vdelitz I usually implement magic links for my own SaaS: https://www.romainsimon.net/saas... However, some people don't like having to click in an email everytime.

Hey! Great launch! Congrats team! In love with the design!

Great project for security, thanks!!!
Great product! Can users customize the complexity of the passwords generated by Memorable Password Generator?
Romain Simon
@ricardo_luz Not yet. It's really simple for the moment, but I might add this later on :)

Interesting! One of my gripes with having to generate secure passwords is that I have absolutely no chance of remembering them, so if I end up having to use a different machine then I'll still have to install my password manager. Definitely gonna try this out!
Romain Simon
@grace_cuevas Thanks! Let me know if you have any feedback ;)

I like this take on a password generator - not to come up with a super obscure string that no one will ever guess, but come up with something that's not easy to guess, but memorable enough. Unfortunately I still have too many passwords that i need to use that even easy to remember ones might be tough. Do you save the passwords as well and autofill?
Romain Simon
@britt_joiner No, currently it only generates the passwords. I might add a password manager one day if there is enough demand though.

While Memorable Password Generator is helpful, its efficiency could potentially be undermined if the 'recognizable words' it uses become too predictable, diminishing the security of the generated passwords. A potential improvement could be to incorporate a greater diversity of words or even other languages to increase the unpredictability of the password generation.

@patpijanowski Hi Patryk, Just my quick back of the enveloppe calculation : The latest update has around 6000 words used. Each one can either be lowercased, uppercased, or capitalized, and there are at least 3 words used = 9000 x 9000 x 9000 = 729 billion combinations. Each word can have one or multiple a special characters, numbers or nothing before and after. There are 26 possible characters. Let's say there are between 1 and 5 used on average, and they can be at one of 4 places between words = 26 x 5! x 4 = 12 480 12 480 x 729 billion = 9 097 trillion possibilities And I do not account for letters that are sometimes randomly replaced by another character.
