Plug in your site's information and generate the most accurate social media meta tags for Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Google.

Love it @feifanw - very simple product - love the site. What's the biggest benefit of this that you have seen over "traditional"/other means of generating meta content? The simplicity? What do you get by adding the app URLs etc? Also..any plans to create a wordpress plugin or portal-type solution that dynamically adapts the meta tags to the content (i.e. when it is updated)? Can imagine doing this for every page on a site being tedious, although for your main landing page it seems super useful & intuitive.

@david_west thanks for the feedback ๐Ÿ™Œ The main thing here is that a different set of tags should be used for different types of websites. This is very early, but I'm gonna write some simple guides for different site types and what various tags mean. For example you can deeplink into your mobile app's content by providing a deeplinked URL. The wordpress plugin is a great idea and something I've thought about before. I'd encourage you to sign up for the mailing list on the site :)

@feifanw Great tip - I'll do just that. Yeah I guess for total noobs like me who normally just use the Wordpress plugin and customise the detail under the page - that type of explanation and some visual examples of how the meta content gets churned out would be super useful. Hoping I'll get to implement deep-linking soon though within some apps - will be epic to use MetaTags :)

@david_west Totally :) I think the use cases get a bit more niche when it comes to things like ecommerce (relevant to Pinterest) and mobile. It's also good to think about the type of content you wanna present for a page when it's shared, especially given the chance to either present a image OR a video. A video could be miles better for conversions in certain cases.

Thank you for posting this Eric! I made it as a way to once and for all generate all the annoying meta tags social media platforms require to properly format your shared posts. I'm always looking for new ways to improve it so any feedback is welcomed :)

Very interesting tool! I have one question though: why not creating an open-API so people could build wrappers on top of it to integrate megatags with code editors? We could set a list of preferences in a config file then simply use one keymap to trigger the generation. What do you think @feifanw? :) Nice work though!

@eveningkid great idea :) I'd love to have something like that, it's more about what's possible given available time and energy at the moment. The generator is the most direct way folks can get usage out of it, but ideas for other type of use cases are exactly what I'm looking for so thank you ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ™Œ

Okay, well this is the most awesome, and useful thing ever. Honestly saved me 5 minutes, but it was a problem I've wanted solved for years! Great job @feifanw!
Feifan Wang
@tristanisham Thanks Tristan :) What do you use meta tags for currently? Your own sites? For clients?
Tristan Isham
@feifanw Currently just my own site : http://tristan.cloud, though I will definitely use for clients in the future.
