Why did you decide to charge $1.99, @willw, rather than offer it for free? Not that one way is obviously better but I'm curious to hear your reasoning.
@rrhoover I've never released a free app. I could of done an in-app purchase but then I have to make a compromised up-sell version. I want the app to be the best it can as soon as you download it.
Love the video! – Curious to hear if you are you simply using the new iOS 8 APIs (which I expect most camera apps will implement) or doing anything special besides that. Whatever the case, this makes for a great default camera app.
@adamsigel Sadly iPhones cap exposure duration at somewhere between 1/2 second and 1 second. Oddly, an iPhone 5 can go to 1 second while 5s, 6, (maybe 6+?) can only go to 1/2 second.
@gilesvangruisen Bummer. One of the things I miss most about my DSLR is long exposures.
Also, I don't love that Manual adjusts the screen as you change shutter speed like a preview. It really slows down the responsiveness, but maybe that can't be helped.
@adamsigel Yes that's also an unfortunate limitation of the iPhone's camera.
DSLRs have viewfinders using mirrors so you can the subject in natural light. Obviously iPhones do not have viewfinders and so the only way to see what the camera sees is by capturing a digital preview and presenting it on the display. I'd bet also (I'm not entirely sure) that this is what happens on pocket digital cameras that don't have viewfinders.
