Hi! I’m so excited to introduce you to what we’ve spent our nights and weekends building for the past few months! Why open a co-working studio now? After spending the last year and a half working from our tiny NYC apartments, Cliff Warren, Oleg Panichev and I were craving the creative energy from being in the same space as our friends and other designers we look up to. We missed the serendipitous conversations that come from being able to turn around in your chair and ask your neighbor “what do you think of this idea?” without the formality of a meeting or the coldness of a Slack message. With COVID-19 vaccination rising and the advent of remote and hybrid work, we saw an opportunity to create our dream work environment: a space where we get to choose who we work with, no matter where we work. So we started this experiment we’re calling Makeshift; a design community space in the heart of Brooklyn open to designers of all backgrounds to work and help each other level up. Our hope is that we can use this space as a resource for the NYC design community by bringing people together through mentorship, events, workshops, happy hours, and co-working. We are currently taking applications for our first batch of Makeshift Members. If you’d like to be a part of it, please tell us a bit more about yourself here: https://lnkd.in/gfFUiDWG
