Hello PH!
Super excited to introduce Maker Mag, the first ever magazine for indie makers. It's a participatory publication, with currently more than 40 writers creating content for everyone to learn, grow, connect, and discuss what matters to makers.
Why does this matter? Because indie news publications are a great sign of a community's vitality. They are a space to inform, inspire, and connect. At Maker Mag, we brainstormed some principles, which include transparency, diversity, and honesty.
We just launched with some interesting articles, such as interviews of @rrhoover, @abadesi and @bentossell about building diverse communities and supporting other makers, tips to get started as a digital nomad or to better manage your finances as an indie maker, and long-form pieces about friendship, imposter syndrome, the definition of a startup, and more.
We hope you find it useful and join us on this exciting journey! Please consider contributing too. 🎉
Many thanks to all the contributors!
Massive congratulations on the launch! I've seen so much hard work go into this in the past few weeks, and I'm astounded with the quality of the content 🙌
@anthilemoon@rrhoover@iiiitsandrea The only reason I'm not commenting, is because what Andrea said here, is everything I would have wanted to say, just worded better. Great publication, Anne-Laure!
@rrhoover Thanks for contributing! 🙏
That would be a whole other challenge! But yes I would love to have a quarterly print edition. Big fan of print magazines 😊
Once more, great work Anne-Laure! Quality, well-written articles on interesting topics - including wellness which matters so much. I read a few articles already and I can't wait to see what comes next.
Hi PHers,
Indie Makers finally have a home now like how large businesses have Forbes / Fortune and tech companies have TechCrunch / The Verge with the Maker Mag magazine. It is the publication highest readership in the community (with 300 followers on Twitter and growing).
Publisher / Maker of magazine @anthilemoon has assembled a great team of contributors, editors and most importantly Makers to produce useful content for Indie Makers community. From managing financial affairs to getting support as a Maker. There’s something for every Maker and more articles are under pipeline already.
Hope you enjoy reading the magazine or the newsletter (if you are an email person)!
Hi @anthilemoon and #Makermag team!
I am so proud for what we have collectively achieved. This is absolutely a stellar work of collaboration and effort, and I am so proud of @anthilemoon for making this happen.
Online communities are powerful; they allow people to connect regardless of where they are in the world.
And our launch articles reflect that. Starting with @jamesstewart’s article on friendships formed between makers, where we encounter people around the world and learn new different things from other lived experiences. Following this is @anthilemoon’s interview with @abadesi on on the importance of diversity in order to allow underestimated people to truly work in their fullest capacity w/o spending needless time worrying how they can fit in.
Coming in with nomad life are @bsamel’s articles, which include an interview with @pierregillesl who has decided to quit his job in Paris to travel and work full-time on this project. There is also the article by Irma Mesa on products to maker remote working life easier. And of course, we also have financial tips for you by @devarsh and @valentinourbano to survive as an indie maker and a nomad.
In the side of community and product discussions, Frances Foster examines the conflicting debate on what a startup really is. @anthilemoon interviews @bentossell on his amazing journey, from getting into @producthunt and becoming a no-code maker and most recently joining Earnest Capital. @anthilemoon also @zacharycsy, a precocious 17-y/o maker interested by product innovation.
Of course, as @producthunt has been instrumental in expanding the makers ecosystem, my interview with @rrhoover is an in-depth look at @producthunt, including @nireyal’s Hook Model, and how @producthunt is of great value to the makers community. Product Hunt has enabled discussions that had historically mostly happened within tech hubs to become more global. It’s also beautiful to witness makers from different verticals collaborating and interacting with each other.

Wow. My partner and I are now concluding a two year digital nomad/entrepreneurial networking tour of Southeast Asia/HK and Shenzhen,in China. I have just pitched a story to Makermag on Troublemaker, a co-working space in Shenzhen, but hopefully I can share other experiences as well. Co-working spaces, governmental support, governmental challenges, exhibition opportunities, positive moments, negative situations, cheap hotels in big Asian cities, food etc...Though I am now primarily focused on my AR-based startup, I have a background as a writer, videomaker and photographer. There is definitely a need for Makermag and I wish the team all the best!
The content is crafted by makers for makers. Amazing learning experience. Also you can find interesting people there, get to know your fellow makers. And very minimalistic design allows the brain to rest.
Pros:
Very useful and interesting content! Awesome design, no ads.
I am truly excited to see this live! The telegram channel behind the scenes is a bustling environment of energy, creativity and passion and I think this will become to go-to site for makers to learn, be inspired and grow.
Kudos to all involved, it's a truly team effort!
It is so amazing to see this idea come to life so quick — thanks to @anthilemoon’s commitment and the hard work of almost 40 maker writers. You couldn’t have asked for a better magazine style than this since it’s coming straight from the hearts of real makers who ship products day in and day out. Excited to be part of this initiative and can’t wait to see where it’ll go in a year’s time.
I personally can't wait to contribute my articles about the region i am living in. There are a couple of success stories that many people have no idea that they are coming from this part of the World. One idea even got the Golden Kitty Award 😃 .
Hopefully, the founders would be more than happy to be interviewed by me.
Cheers and good luck with the Magazine!
I think this magazine focusses exactly on the topics we need as a maker community. The articles reflect current questions and discussions many of us have. They deliver a balanced perspective with tons of input from different people, giving them a personal touch. All that without any ego bullshit 🙊
I’m looking forward to reading more & contributing in the future. Great work @anthilemoon and all the other awesome people behind Maker Mag! ❤️
Great job Anne-Laure I stumbled upon your mag a couple of days ago and binge read most of the articles! I keep getting notifications for your launches, so keep shipping 😃
@anthilemoon you've all done an amazing job with this! The content on the site is already really high quality. I'm excited to see this grow (and to be a part of it!).
I've been waiting for a site like this for a long time coming. The maker scene has never been bigger than it is today.
Looking forward to reading more content 👏🏻
