Hey hunters 👋
Logtail lets you query your logs like you query your database: using SQL.
Here's a secret! 🤫
Most logging tools out there use the ELK stack under the hood for storing your logs. This is surprisingly inefficient.
Logtail is based on ClickHouse, making it much faster and cost-effective. We pass these savings on to you.
The other log management tools charge you $2-$4 per GB/month. Logtail starts at $0.25 per GB/month.
Crazy right? There’s more.
We automatically parse your logs and store them in a table with schema. Think Excel spreadsheet instead of a Word document.
There’s built-in Grafana with pre-generated dashboards, and you can always add your own charts.
Collaborate with your colleagues on resolving incidents, Google Docs-style.
Share direct links, comment on logs, and archive important events forever.
Your data is fully encrypted in transit and at rest.
Alerts. Long-term archiving. 30+ integrations. Unbeatable price.
There’s no good reason to use a terrible logging tool in 2021.

Background:
The idea for a radically better log management tool was on my todo list since I tried to install Graylog for the first time in 2011. It felt like I was missing a university degree in (log) management.
Since then I tried using ELK, Papertrail, Cloudwatch, Logentries, Coralogix, LogDNA, Timber, and a number of other log management tools looking for 'the one' but there was always something missing: either the interface was from 2000, the integration was difficult, or the pricing was crazy.
In early 2021 we got together with a few friends and built the tool we wanted to use for our own apps. Give it a shot and let us know your thoughts! 🙏
Best,
Juraj
This is amazing! I spend a lot of time reading logs, and it's such an underappreciated part of software engineering. It's so great to see innovation here! I'm looking forward to seeing Logtail evolve 👏
We've been using Logtail for a couple of months now, switching from LogDNA, and although there are still a few rough edges (which are being ironed out all the time), the product is really a breath of fresh air among the existing log tools.
In my opinion, there are two key points that make Logtail a game-changer. One is price. The other is ClickHouse. Regarding price, it's just orders of magnitude below the competition. Both in price per GB and retention period. For example:
Logtail $0.25 per GB
LogDNA $3 per GB
Coralogix $1.80 per GB. Logtail's price per GB (hot storage) is almost as low as Coralogix's cold storage at $0.22.
Please correct me if I am wrong here.
Regarding ClickHouse, this was an eye-opener for me. You basically get a fully managed ClickHouse and for someone who never experienced it, this is a CRAZY amount of power at your fingertips. Coming from LogDNA, which offers a very limiting "query language", the sheer breadth of new questions you can ask with pure SQL on a ClickHouse instance got me into a WOW moment.
It's even better than "regular" SQL because you get mini superpowers from ClickHouse like, for example, the ORDER BY WITH FILL and other cool things. Take a look at the docs to understand what options are suddenly available to you:
https://clickhouse.com/docs/en/s...
Coralogix can be queried using SQL. Either from its UI or from any SQL client, CLI, API. Either from an index or from an object storage.
So good luck and all. But stick to facts please.
