I love that she offers a 30-day reminder via newsletter. It's smart as hell. Not sure if this just launched, but I would be curious to see the conversion rate on her newsletter.
@crixlet it's all about customer service. I'm not here to argue about payment. I'm here to be completely understanding that the invoice accidentally went into spam. Or you thought your assistant paid it last week. Or you were on vacation and forgot. (The excuses I hear daily) Gosh! I hate when that happens to me! I can take the payment over the phone right now if that's easiest for you!
I dig it... sometimes one of the hardest things for a freelancer or small agency to do is to ask their customers to pay (crazy, but that's reality). So this is a great service. BTW, that's why I switched to a paid-up-front model. :-)
Though I suspect @nikkielizdemere asked me my thoughts because - from a Customer Success standpoint - you shouldn't have late payments.
But how is having customers pay late a "customer success" issue? It means that you aren't have real, frequent conversations with your customers and honestly, that you're probably hiding from them except for the interactions required to get your work done. Remember, you aren't in business to get your work done, you're in business to get paid.
So maintaining communication with customers beyond that which is required to just get the work done will 1) help ensure your customers are paying on time (because you'll talk about that explicitly) 2) ensure you're helping them achieve their desired results (even as - or especially as - those desired results evolve) and 3) you'll surface new opportunities to help your customers succeed (though additional billable work... win-win).
Let's put it this way... if Julie talks to your customers more than you do, that's a problem. But the service looks great, if you've arrived at that point.
This would be really useful for companies that get paid by ad agencies ie- adtech, ad networks, creative software,etc.. They are notoriously terrible with paying on time and cashflow is key to an ads supported business.
