I've always been a huge fan of those classic RPGs and the pixel art aesthetic 🎮✨ And, since I injured myself playing football last weekend and was pretty much confined to my desk, staring at the computer screen, I thought, why not create a little game that captures that old-school magic but with a twist? What if I could integrate ChatGPT into a RPG game? Being able to chat with every NPC, each with their own unique backstory! 🤖💬 That's where the idea for this weekend project came about. The end result is IndieHackers RPG: "Tale of the Forgotten Key". It's my love letter to those epic 8-bit adventures of the past, but I've spiced it up with some AI-driven conversations. Also, the game is packed with nods to the indie hacking community and the startup scene. 👩‍💻🚀 Can't wait for you to check it out, and I'd love to hear your thoughts! @jasonleowsg, that was the idea! But it was also to mix it with how NPC interactions will be in the future on games. There are many impressive demos on YouTube, but I think it's interesting to see the contrast between old 8-bit games and AI.

@julienergan thanks! Playing retro games is the closest thing we have to a time machine. My girlfriend recently bought me an Anbernic RG35XX that plays all old consoles, check it out, I hiiiighly recommend it!

God I love 80s & 90s games in general (and Pokemon games are among favourites). This looks like a fun little throwback with a modern twist, so to speak. Looks really fun, congrats on the launch!

@itsawaisyounas well, I have a general rule (that I tend to break) of not working during the weekends, but since I sustained a minor injury while playing football last week and couldn't do much besides sitting around at home, I decided to code this game instead.

@fer_momento yeah it was interesting that they edited what they said based on what you told them. It would be even more interesting if it affected the gameplay, but that sounds hard haha

@ewbanks there are many demos of real game devs using voice commands even. Crazy future ahead for gaming.
