Herd Social - Ditch the highlight reel, find real friends instead

Hi hi 💚 Thank you to everyone who has supported us in creating this kind corner of the internet. Our team is incredibly excited to unveil Herd to the product hunt community! After months of testing, feedback, and ideating, Herd is officially out of beta and globally available as of today! We are excited to celebrate this milestone & get feedback from fellow builders. Herd was formed out of our own frustration with how current social platforms made us feel. The vision from day one has been to help genZ feel less lonely, more connected, and free to express themselves without pressure. Herd is a social space where you can show up as your whole self, and find people that like you for you. So how does it work? To get started, you select your top 15 interests. Each week, we match you with a “herd,” a group chat of people that have 2-3 interests in common. After a week of chatting, you can choose to save the chat, or remove yourself for good. If you are looking to discover people outside of your herd, you can also explore and share pics (metrics-free, of course) in our photo feed, or message 1 to 1 with your new connections. Since our public beta kicked off in June, we have had 73,127 organic downloads, 32,141 user to user connections have been made & 117,760 pics have been shared. We are excited to see how these numbers accelerate with our new user experience. The next generation deserves a social space that helps them find friends easily, while being authentic to who they truly are. Our team is dedicated to making it happen. The organic growth is INCREDIBLE! I’m curious, how do you see the app changing and growing over time?

Love this! Our current social ecosystem is sadly all built around projecting and not communicating which may have damaging effects for those who are not great at being influencers. This seems more real and more human to all. I wish Herd the best!
