I'm super excited to launch Halfdollar. It's been over a year and a half in the making. Managing my money and helping others do the same has always been a passion of mine so I wanted to build something that could help in that. It's been a great journey getting to this point, with plenty of revisions, user feedback, and learning. My good friends Jon and Rob from 64 Robots helped bring this idea to life. If you have any questions about using Halfdollar, or ideas for new features to meet your needs, don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks, and enjoy!

@dmtors Beautiful app! Obligatory: what stack are you using?
Derek Torsani
@focus_wish Thanks Ben! Vue and Laravel.

Is it possible to have a data visualization (like a diagram) of the expenses with your tool?
Derek Torsani
@celine_birgand You mean to show a graph of where you spend what? Like in different groups or categories? Basically just a different way to view your expenses or income? We don't have that right now but can definitely consider making that other view.

Quick & easy sign-up. Entering all my line items was super easy. 1. Is there a plan to add in a module for savings? 2. I'm assuming the main use case is for fixed in/out? Will there be a way to save month-by-month views so I can see my spending habits and how to adjust them? So far very good! I'm looking forward to seeing future iterations :) Best of luck to you and your team!
Derek Torsani
@eelyll You hit the nail on the head! Both of those features are in the works. Thanks for the encouragement!

Congrats man!! Killer video and even better product. Looks like a lot has changed since the beta so I'm excited to start using this more! I think it'll help me with that new year's goal to rein in my personal finances 😄
Derek Torsani
@devinhalladay Thanks so much dude! Yeah that's the hope with launching it right now, is that people can get their finances in shape. 💵

what did happen with this app ? The site is offline
Igor Marchuk
There's no app?
Derek Torsani
@igor_march Not yet. But we plan on creating one. Thanks for your question!
Nikita Virani
Neat stuff, I'm gonna have to try this out myself .
Derek Torsani
@nikitavirani_ Thanks! Let us know what you think and if you have any questions or need any help!

Shoutout to Derek for being super responsive on the in-app chat! I messaged him suggesting the ability to temporarily hide and unhide expenses and income sources, and he got back to me within minutes. Love it so far, and I can't wait until that's implemented!
Derek Torsani
@mattahorton Hey thanks for the shoutout! I love the idea and I'm working on designing that in there.

This looks like a really simple, easy-to-use tool. Are you planning to have it integrate with any payment services or pull from your banking account/credit card?
Derek Torsani
@jackie_rae Thanks! That is in the works! I wanted to start small and super simple. So that it's very easy to use to the tool and it can replace a spreadsheet. Now it's all about getting more features in there to take it to the next level. 😀
Simon Bromberg
Cool, is there any way to add people to your account so you can collaborate?
Derek Torsani
@shimmb That's something I've thought about, adding admins of your account or sharing budgets with another user. What are you trying to accomplish?
Simon Bromberg
@dmtors sharing budget with another person; As it says in tagline it's for individuals, couples, and businesses, yet there's no way to share the budget unless you share a single account?
Derek Torsani
@shimmb Simon, this is a great point. What that is meant to communicate is that you can have many sources of income and expenses in one budget, so it works for couples. However, we are working on implementing shared accounts and budgets. So hopefully that will help with what you need.
Katrien Verr
Very clean, nice work :). - Only $? - I would also like to be able to share my account.
Derek Torsani
@katrienverr Hey thanks! We're working on being able to change your currency. But it is just a symbol in there and will function however you need it to for any currency. As for sharing accounts, what exactly are you looking to share? Do you just want someone else to see your account, make it public, or have other admins of your account to change details?
adelyn
Just a thought, for users without a fixed monthly income (I'm a freelancer), would be nice to be able to add a one-off sum that doesn't automatically gets multiplied by 12 :)
Derek Torsani
@ninjashrew Hey Adelyn that's a great point! You can still input your one-off income in each month. We are working on giving you the ability to go back and track month to month. As far as it multiplying it by 12, we will look into different solutions to better fit every users needs. Thanks for the input!
Graeme
nice one Derek, look simple to use!
Derek Torsani
@graeme_fulton Hey thanks! Sure is!
Stephanie Alexis Gonzaga
This looks really good. Does Half Dollar support other currencies? I'm in desperate need of a budgeting app that I won't forget to use!
Derek Torsani
@stefgonzaga Hey thanks! We are actually implementing currencies next! May I ask what currency you are looking for? PS. You can still use Halfdollar for now as it is since the $ is just a symbol and doesn't convert exchange rates or anything. 😉
Stephanie Alexis Gonzaga
@dmtors I'm based in the Philippines so having this in Philippine peso would be awesome. I know it's weird, considering it's called Half Dollar, so go for what you think is best for the app. :)
Derek Torsani
@stefgonzaga Philippine Peso will be included in the new change currency feature!
