Flickseeker - Find movies by mood

Hey everyone! My dad and I have made a website for finding movies by mood/feeling tags (crowdsourced), to find movies to watch in a new way. We hope you enjoy!

Love it, great work! However, looks really close to my old project / mobile app https://popflakeapp.com/ 🧐

Hi! Thanks for checking out 🍿 Flickseeker. This is really my dad's project, which I helped give a visual polish and show it to the world :) The site works with a simple crowd-sourced tagging system, which leads to some powerful results in searching and finding similarly tagged movies. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!

@shridhar_gupta interesting Helps you find Movies interested in, though it would be really helpful if it would show where you could watch it for free

This looks great! It would be awesome if you could add a time range filter after selecting the mood. Sometimes I'm looking for just recent movies, other times I may want something older.
Shridhar Gupta
@kiran_kv That's a great idea, we definitely want to add filters to the search.

I'm late to the party! But this would be a great way to search for movies. I've added some feedback as a thank you - hope some of the points may be helpful :) Congratulations launching on Product Hunt!

@christian_piponides Thanks Christian! I don't see the feedback when I click on the link :/

No Offence, but why not use IMDB instead?
Shridhar Gupta
@harsh_gelda We wanted to go beyond genres for searching, and also find that limiting the keyword list leads to much better results / easy of search-ability! Of course, it's not for everyone so if IMDb works for you, then all the better :)

Looks great, especially considering how many times I've failed to choose a decent movie with friends recently! An idea to take it Δ next level → incorporate browsing path randomness to reduce user creativity / decision making cognitive requirement (which I think is the crux of the "choosing a movie problem"). Especially from the homepage. Changing the movies every 30-60 seconds will quickly open up alternate discovery paths (via the way movies are related/browsable by cast / director etc.) An "other suggestions" browsing path on each movie page would be good too… I think you want to avoid the user having to back up and optimally be able to just mindlessly keep clicking until something sticks. Also … 😅 porn sites are probably the place to observe, mutate or assimilate the industry's best browsing strategies.

@hackerpreneur True, needs more discoverability. Check out the new "recently tagged" page! https://flickseeker.com/recently...

Checked it out, like it so far!

Quite cool. Rom-coms all the way but definitely a cool tool.

It reminds me of Stereomood, an app to search for music by mood

Really like how you select multiple dimensions to search. One thing that would be helpful: sorting → year for e.g.

I love this!!
