The idea for the AI-powered OCR came from my own messy experiences managing tons of screenshots across different projects. I kept asking myself: “Why can’t screenshots be as searchable and organized as text files?” That question became the starting point for Dropgala.


OCR was our first step toward making screenshots actionable, not just static images. By recognizing and indexing the text inside each screenshot, users can find exactly what they need in seconds, even if they forgot when or why they took it.


Looking ahead, we’re planning to evolve Dropgala into a fully AI-assisted workspace. Think: automatic tagging, smart folders, contextual summaries, and personalized recommendations — all fully automated. You’ll be able to simply take a screenshot using our Chrome extension, and Dropgala will handle the rest behind the scenes — organizing, labeling, and securing everything for you. Our goal is to make sure every screenshot you take matters, is safe, and is never lost again. Total peace of mind, zero manual effort.

💡 Bright idea

Dropgala is exactly what I’ve needed to tame my screenshot chaos! For shared folders, can I set time-based access limits (e.g., links expire after 7 days) to enhance security?

That’s a great idea — thank you for suggesting it! Right now, you can share public folders (along with their subfolders if public too), which makes it easy to organize and share grouped content. But adding time-based access limits would take things to the next level in terms of control and security.


I can definitely see this becoming a powerful feature, especially for teams and time-sensitive projects. I’ll add it to our roadmap and start exploring how to build it in a simple, seamless way.
