Hey everyone! I'm Dante, Founder of Onboardbase, a secret and environment management platform for developers. One thing that has come up a lot with our customers is that sometimes they need to share things like API keys or other secrets either with non-developers or they only need to share something once. It makes sense to share that ad-hoc vs. configuring it in the Onboardbase platform - but this means people end up insecurely sharing in Slack or email, creating major security risks or what I like to call secret chaos. To solve this, we built a simple tool called Disposable (https://disposable.onboardbase.com/) that considers how people communicate, which we are launching today. Part of our mission is to eliminate the insecure sharing of secret data across every company, and this hopefully helps you close a critical security gap! If you need to centralize, automate, and sync secrets at scale across teammates and infrastructure, check out the full Onboardbase platform at https://onboardbase.com

Hey there! Take my congrats on the recent launch of Disposable on Product Hunt! 🎉 In our world where only thoughts are anonymous, so good to see such products launching. How do you provide security to your users? Is e2e encryption enough nowadays?
Dante Lex
@denis_galka Awesome, thanks a lot. We provide a note on the page about how we think about the security of the product base on a zero-knowledge protocol. e2e done right can be enough, but we added an extra layer of security for this as well.
Denis Galka
@dantelex Super! What extra layer of security did you add, if it is not secret?
Dante Lex
@denis_galka A one-time code is also generated to validate the encrypted message in transit to ensure it's coming from the right Client. This one-time code is sent with the messages on every keystroke.
Denis Galka
@dantelex I've tried to chat with my friend who previously shared the link. Error message with the following text is displayed "Error sending invite".
Dante Lex
@denis_galka yeah, launch day. The server went down, but it should be back up now. Looking forward to your feedback

Wow Dante, congratulations on the awesome launch of Disposable on Product Hunt! 🎉 I'm so excited to see how this amazing tool will help people securely share API keys and other secrets. Could you share some of the scenarios where people could benefit from using Disposable? I'm interested in seeing how the tool can be used to streamline the process of securely sharing data. As always, it's so inspiring to see brilliant products that make our lives easier and safer. Keep up the great work! 🤩
Dante Lex
@paolo_degiglio, for now, we have some use cases around customer support and government. If you are actively interested, I'd love to follow up with you

How do you ensure no data persists? I need a way to share keys that are for short term use but that could still be abused if they get leaked.
Dante Lex
@matt_levin We don't store or retain any data at all. Messages are sent from one user to the other in real time, and nothing is saved to the DB. It's like they were never there in the first place.

Congrats on this launch, Dante! Very nice work on this. Any plans to allow premium features? Custom domains seems like an obvious one. An example: imagine a company that wants this functionality and would like to use a custom domain. An important use case for custom domain is customer support. Say a customer reaches out to a WordPress plugin vendor's live support, via chat, and wants the support rep to take a look at an issue on their site. Passing credentials via the chat widget isn't secure and isn't guaranteed to be ephemeral (because the chat widget stores chat logs). The support rep could say, "hey, go to this secure credential sharing url: disposable.pluginvendor[.]com and paste in the access info please." Just one use case where a business would be willing to pay extra for a premium feature. There are easy ways to wire this up so it's not a ton of work for you, for example: by using CloudFlare for SaaS' Custom Hostnames feature, or by using a provider like Approximated (approximated[.]app). Anyway. just my two cents. Congrats again on this launch! Always rooting for you! — KW

Oh this is great, congrat on launching. Any plans to integrate this into slack or discord?
Dante Lex
@mahmoud_swehli1 yes, we are working on an integration with slack and teams first, but discord will come soon after. Thank you!

How do y’all see payments integrating into the app? I have to ask, but thoughts on signal?
Dante Lex
@giga_greg We are already looking into this and would love to follow up with you if you are actively interested. Signal is a great tool and a very different use case
