Hey Product Hunt community! I'm Gilbert, the maker of DevMail, and I'm thrilled to finally launch it here. As a web developer myself, I've always felt the need for a robust tool to streamline email testing and debugging across various environments. That's why I created DevMail - to help developers capture, inspect, and analyze emails in a sandbox environment before going live. I'm eager to hear your feedback, suggestions, or any cool ideas you think could make DevMail even better. Let's make email testing a breeze together!

Sounds like a great idea, @gilbitron ! Does it also work with services like Gmail, Outlook, ... or does it need to be an individually hosted mail service from the company?
Gilbert Pellegrom
@lrueger It can work with both. You can either configure your emails to be sent via our SMTP servers, or you can use a dedicated email address to send emails directly to your DevMail inbox.

Hey Gilbert! Congratulations on the launch of DevMail, it looks like an absolute game-changer for us web developers! As someone who's faced the challenges of email testing and debugging firsthand, I can truly appreciate the need for a tool like this. I'm sure this community will have some fantastic ideas to contribute. Wishing you tremendous success with DevMail.

Very cool! Are there any privacy considerations we should keep in mind? Do the captured emails go somewhere? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Looking forward to take this one for a spin!
Gilbert Pellegrom
@dan_mindru While testing, it's recommended to avoid using PII and to use dummy data instead. But the data is only retained for a max of 30 days (depending on your plan) and then permanently deleted.

Congrats on the launch, Gilbert! I really like this one. I usually go with Mailhog but I can see how this can be a gamechanger for teams - I wish we had something like this back in my agency times, where QA envs had a list of testers' emails hardcoded into it ๐Ÿ˜… Good luck! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I like the interface and how intuitive everything is. I also like that the emails are stored for some days, that way it is a lot more easier to debug stuff and go back in time. I'll definitely be using this cool tool.

Awesome idea! Can I ask how is it better than a self-hosted SMTP server you can use for testing for free? Congrats for launching!

Congrats on the launch, we are building a newsletter platform and I think this might come in quite handy, thank you! I love the CI/CD angle and would absolutely love to see a workflow where it's all automated. From what I see on the home page however, I think one key missing ingredient is a webhook that fires to the testing system with the received mail contents. Or at least an API that the testing system can poll to verify headers, content, spam scores, etc. Or perhaps some pass/fail indicator if the verification is done by the service. Otherwise it means I'll have to manually check these emails, which doesn't really sit well with CI/CD. Good luck!

Well done, @gilbitron I liked the idea and found it useful for developers. I have been trying it out since yesterday, but it always seems to show a 500 server error when receiving any emails. It will be great if this issue could be fixed. Again, congrats on your work.
